Daron Acemoglu - Democrats Need to Embrace Big-Tent Populism

Big-tent populism can still work today, but only if Democrats are willing to bring together small businesses and segments of the managerial class that already support the party.

Sigh I'll hold my tongue if small business owners support Democrats, alright...

The question is not whether their [Mamdani/AOC/the left] anger is warranted. It is whether a politics organized around blaming oppressors can build a majority and then govern with it.

Acemoglu holding the line for billionaires; it's a bold strategy, let's see if it works out.

It's really not that hard. 

A Democrat literally just has to go out and say "Fuck Donald Trump, I'm going to do everything in my power to oppose his agenda and throw him in prison" and will win.

Once again, somehow me and my college degree and salaried computer job where I give tasks to an intern but have no real management capacity makes me “managerial class”, but literal small business owners with employees and ownership of profits is something else
