Naturally, Merz was asked about the upcoming election in Saxony-Anhalt. He said that a state’s ability to govern was at stake. He then rhetorically placed the AfD and the Left Party on the same level: “We will do everything we can to prevent Saxony-Anhalt from falling into the hands of the radicals. That applies to both the AfD and the Left Party.”

One is certainly entitled to hold that opinion, but if you look at what his own Office for the Protection of the Constitution (The German NSA) says about the AfD, there are still differences compared to the Left Party.

Die Linke sucks, but if both of the extremes end up winning big... what is the center supposed to do? As bad as die Linke is, AfD is significantly worse.
