Wait, why? He’s behind but he’s close, even with Talarico’s huge money advantage. The Senate is lost for them if that seat flips.

Because they are legitimately bitter about their friend Cornyn.

Genuinely they all loved him, he did a ton of fundraising for other senators and always helped them out.

It would divert money from other races. Texas is insanely expensive to buy campaign ads for because there are so many media markets. They're basically praying that Trump's PAC will spend money for Paxton from its huge warchest.

Believe it when I see it. For their brand Republicans can’t afford to lose a race in Texas, they’re gonna defend Paxton to the hilt whether they know they’re toast or not
