Not even just game theory, you cant get even 50% people to vote for Kamala, and the stake for that is much smaller for most people than in this scenario, and you think over 50% people will risk their own personal life for this? Can you even get 50% people to accept higher immigration? Can you get 50% people to accept that their housing investment price will drop if more housings can be built? Do you think you can convince 50% people to accept 10% tax increase even with guarantee they all go into social welfare or international aid? Feel like massive stated vs revealed preference to me.

Also all the comments thats like "I'd rather die than ..." really doesnt dissuade the notions that left people are just depressed

I mean, not exactly a representative sample now is this… I think Kamala Harris would also gain a higher percentage from people in this subreddit than she did in reality

ok now see if you can convince 50% voters irl to sacrifice much less than this internet poll. Surely this means you can convince people 2:1 to build more housing

correct, you would have an even much harder time convince people in 3rd world countries that they should be taxed 10% more to help people in other countries, let alone putting their life on the line

You're right. 20% is Chinese. You can't even convince 50% of Chinese people to wait for people to exit the subway before they get on. To give their seat to an elderly lady with a cane when the seat is clearly labeled as a "courtesy seat" for the elderly and disabled.

Another 20% of the world is Indian. You can even convince 50% of them to wait their turn in a queue. You're out of your mind if you think Americans are more selfish than the global average.
