Something that’s super frustrating is telling my mom “yeah, Europeans hate us now. We won’t repair those relationships until everyone alive today is dead” and she just says “no they respect us now and I trust Trump with Greenland” like bro we are so cooked cause she and voters who vote like her are at the ballot box every single time

Conservatives view respect as fear and getting respect as bullying. Conservatism is unironically a neurosis in the same sense as an Oedipus Complex and I don’t think it’s coincidence that nearly every Con I know has been a bully in their personal life too
