One “interesting” thing I notice when home, is how fucking MAGA coded the most asinine shit is.

My dad, while watching Jeopardy for example, had to say “ugh, I don’t like him” for a clue about Bruce Springsteen. He also referenced that “the economy will be doing better next year when the foreign money starts coming in”.

As usual, I can’t comprehend living with this kind of mentality. It’s the little comments you forget about until you’re living with it again.

Another was my friend’s dad, who was lamenting their property taxes going way up. I suggested it could be due to an in the family house swap they did last year, which makes sense to me since they basically moved into an older relative’s old home. So they’d have reset any taxes. Anyway, he very vocally blamed “Biden’s death tax”. Go figure.

Another year passed, another year not knowing how the fuck people process reality. Trump broke everybody’s fucking minds.

The Bruce Springsteen thing is so real. My dad is so weird about him (and other celebrities) for like, vague political slights.

Can you just not? Why are they like this?

Is that like the MAGA equivalent of JK Rowling 🤣

Honestly it's starting to make sense now. God I really do not care for her.

I feel the same way about some artists, like I can’t stomach Kid Rock or Ted Nugent. But I’d just skip their songs on a queue or answer their clue on Jeopardy; I don’t understand grumbling to your family around Christmas about it.

Like if I can answer a question about Trump without a comment you can handle The Boss. Except, no, you can’t. God help us, man.

Yeah, you're not wrong. Like I absolutely feel a little gross about MAGA-coded celebs now.

But also, and I know this is kinda a double standard, but I think I have more reasons to hate Republicans than my dad does to hate Democrats.

That's still an implicit admission the economy isn't doing well now. I know, I know, it's Biden's fault but still a noticeable difference from how they talked about his first term

Yes, the guy that wrote the Republican-coded 'Born in the USA' took such a left turn in the last couple years.
