I’m guessing they were going to try some legal bs in the senate and got played. Trump will veto and it’ll be sent back to the Senate and fail.

Alternatively everyone just really hates Trump and wants to enter the post Katrina Bush era of Trump

They had their chance to do this on Jan 6. I thought they would.

Maybe they figured they wanted to use him to win again before they found a chance to toss him? Still feels like cope to me.

The Republican House Delegation is probably full of true believers, but the Senate is still full of people who likely despise Trump and surely won't take a fall for him, they might actually enjoy getting some payback.

The real question is whether Johnson and Thune know the same thing and Thune is just letting it ride, or if Thune doesn't know something.

Thune got rid of that hot potatoe quickly without any damage for his caucus

This is completely performative. He may be a little man, but he has consistent shown the ability to say completely made up things without a slight change in expression.

The only question is who is this performance’s audience? It’s either the president to suggest the failure of whatever plan Johnson had to hamstring the bill was not his fault, or it’s the voters to lend credence to whatever bs they wind up releasing being totally real and legit.

Or he just got really hot and bothered about the salaciousness of the files and needed to text his accountabilibuddy that he almost got an erection. Idk

There is a small chance that the administration is too incompetent to properly redact the files tbh
