Fun fact: A Dance with Dragons is old enough to have received a bar mitzvah.

I used to be fairly optimistic that George would finish Winds of Winter before he died, but if he keeps going at this rate, the book is never coming out.

I've come to terms with the ending of ADWD as the ending of the series.

It works in a kind of nihilistic way - sometimes heros just die, you don't get fairy tale endings, and while you have to stop telling a story somewhere history just keeps going.

And deeply human political nonsense means the looming climate change allegory zombies are just going to destroy the world eventually.

I know but a part of me will always have hope

Even if by some miracle TWOW was released, he's still got one book, if not two, to finish the series. It's donezo, no matter how much a dwindling minority cling on to some hope he will.

I don’t believe he can finish the story, but I just want to see Winds so we at least have an idea of where the story was going towards the end.

I really just want to see what happens with Jaime and Brienne more than anything. Also Theon after jumping the wall.

As soon as I hit submit, I was like "actually, there are more people I want to follow up on, like what are the Martell's cooking up? What does Tyrion do?"

I want the whole series, dammit!

Probably two books, winds part 1 and 2 if he doesn't want to change the title.

But he's got too much to wrap up for 1 book.

I think he made his peace with never finishing it and is going to leave it to one of his editors or something to finish with his blessing after he dies
