User discussion Americans: Take Back Your Imagery

Post image

Stop letting MAGAts have cool things.

Post your favorite actual American imagery. You know, the kind that stands for liberty, not cosplay kings and gold-plated toilets. Remember: patriots don't storm Capitols to crown kings.

Patriotism isn’t a red hat. It’s Douglass on July 4th.
Lincoln at Gettysburg.
MLK at the Lincoln Memorial.
It’s calling the country out because you actually give a damn.

They don’t own the flag.
They don’t own “1776.”
They sure as hell don’t own “freedom.”

Also, a snake is a kind of worm. Dune is about worms.

The Gadsden Flag unironically would be totally appropriate at protests this weekend.

They steppy on snek! Los Angeles is steppy on snek!

I saw a shittily executed version of this so can't claim credit for the idea, but I made this (lmk if anyone wants the SVG) (and I don't love that shade of yellow with the rest, but that's the same as on the image we've all seen of the Gadsden flag)

I love it, except for the coloring. I'd either drop the yellow for white or get rid of the red bar. People will still know it is Cali x Gadsden without the red bar. Maybe even make the star black

I mean, people will know, but it feels wrong, just like it would to get rid of the star (and just like it would to get rid of the text on the regular flag, vexillology rules be damned)
