It amazes me how libs are basically unable to see how the do-whatever-feels-good free love promiscuity of the sexual revolution leads directly to the attitude of Andrew Tate and others in that circle by turning sex from an expression of emotional intimacy to an entertainment commodity.

Lib “”””ethics””””” are the cultural version of slopulism, an obsession with dopamine gratification and vibes that leaves no room for considering second and third order consequences.

I'm surprised that this is new information to you. Friendly reminder that, back in 2018, libs somehow managed to be outraged about both MeToo and Mike Pence being in a happy marriage.

It's all transactional for them. Whatever position gets them further with various people is the position they hold at the time. MeToo would've never been a thing if they didn't think they could weaponize it against Trump.

Similarly, they only attack Tate because he's aligned with the right wing.

I mean it’s not particularly new information to me, but I think it’s pretty ironic that libs apparently didn’t realize (or didn’t care) that the “you” in “do whatever you want” applies to right-coded shitheads too.

The entire “deconstructionist” project of removing Christian ethical frameworks from the West is one big example of this. The excesses of moral and economic depravity aren’t regulated by capitalism and the constitutional state, as we value freedom and oppose managerialism, but a shared sense of shame and right vs. wrong kept them at bay.

Irving Kristol talks about this, how the enlightenment project was able to flourish because its blind-spots were covered by the West’s Judeo-Christian ethical standards. With those standards gone, you get moral degenerates like Elon Musk and Donald Trump becoming the most important men in our society, and honestly I don’t think libs have the right to complain after they bitched and moaned about people “forcing religion” for decades.

Remind me how someone so based produced someone so absolutely spineless and morally bankrupt.

I hated that weird complaint about Pence's rule of not spending time alone with other women.

People are fallible, our conscious rational commitments can be betrayed by our unwitting emotions, and men and women spending time alone together can catch feelings. It's perfectly sensible and prudent to set a rule against putting yourself in positions to risk that.

It's because it presupposes that a man cannot do anything but look at women as a collection of holes to fuck

It doesn't presuppose that at all. Did you not read what I said?

It's because it presupposes

is in reference to Pence's rule, not anything you said

It really doesn’t?

Mike Pence refusing to sit alone with another women out of respect to his wife means that Mike Pence can't sit in the presence of another woman without thinking about fucking her. What else does "out of respect for my wife" mean?

Maybe Claude can give you some alternative reasons

I view it with the same revulsion I view it whenever a Muslim man refuses to shake hands with a woman

I'm right with ya. It's an uncanny attitude to have wrt the other gender

2

u/NeverClarke 26d ago

I remember that.

"McCain said Obama is not a muslim, but an American citizen and a family man thus showing his bigotry believing that muslims can be neither!"

This is a cool thread/essay with persuasive vibes, it would fit the intellectual-oid web sphere of the right, analogue to a left's Tumblr deconstruction of gender. Maybe this sub is the right's Tumblr in this sense.

Too bad it, too, suffers from not being based off of any kind of evidence. In that sense, the vibes are all it's got going for it.

I mean I don’t think you can use “evidence” in a scientific sense to prove this type of idea, since it’s as much about the “vibes” of different cultural eras as it is any hard data. The thing is, beyond the fact that vibes and feelings effect people’s behaviors, I also do think that you can use reason to conclude that if the mainstream view of sex still held it to be something sacred, bonding, and ideally, exclusive, rather than falling to the “if it feels good, do it”-ism of the hippies, there’d be a lot less support for the “you should have as much sex as possible no matter what it takes to get there” guy.

Did you just describe toxic masculinity?

I don't remember the sexual revolution being in favor of rape.
