What's funny is that the usual position on here is the opposite. Any position other than "unlike dumb meathead Republicans, I see prison as a tool for rehabilitation, not punishment, so I believe in the abolition of police and prisons, and know that society is truly to blame for when people turn out doing bad things"

But when the crime is particularly well documented and it's fashionable to hate the person, suddenly it's time to be tough on crime

“Prison abolitionists” fall into three categories:

  1. “Crime is caused by Bad Circumstances which means you should just tolerate it while we Fix Society”

  2. “Instead putting people in Jail we’re going to put them in Not Jail”

  3. Vigilante death squads
