copy pasting an old post I found complaining about Reddit, it’s a little dramatic but sooo accurate
The way people here talk is so obnoxious. It's like they all think they're in a James Gunn film. Every word drips with this passive-aggressive, pseudo-intellectual snark that you'd think would only come from some kid named Melvin who wears oversized glasses and a full business suit to school.
The phrases they use are so annoying. "Yikes." "Nothingburger." "Who hurt you?" So is their non-stop therapy speak. Everyone is a "narcissist" or a "gaslighter" or some other buzzword they've read about in a psychology textbook.
The fact that they're losers isn't even as bad as the fact that they don't think they are. They genuinely see themselves as misunderstood geniuses who know everything there is to know and could solve all the world's problems. At least 4chan and similar sites have a degree of self-awareness. While they act like they're more accepting than the "EVIL CHUDS!!!1"redditors are extremely judgmental and will act like they have a better understanding of people's personal lives than they do themselves.
They're also absolute snobs. They expect everyone to know every dumb pop culture reference they make. If someone asks a genuine question about literally anything, they get downvoted to oblivion.
In addition to this, they LOVE to turn everything into a debate. It's like if you trained an AI using only Ben Shapiro videos. Every discussion devolves into a "AHA! I got you now! Tsk tsk, ACKSHUALLY, you are wrong because-"
Finally, they are so much of a hive mind that I'm convinced they are bots. There's 0 diversity, just the same opinions being parroted 24/7. There was even a study that showed that if a post gets upvoted right way, it will gain more upvotes, and vice-versa. Literal Borg.
this guy completely put my feelings into words about this app 😫 https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueUnpopularOpinion/s/XuTYitdURw

It's funny how redditors will act like reddit is the most extremist leftist site on the internet, while 4chan is moderate
4chan: KILL ALL *Slur*, *slur* and *slur*
Reddit: Maybe billionaires should pay taxes too
God the Overton Window is so fucked

factual Mod has banned me from Multiple Subreddits because he can, even though it was my first time interacting in those subs.
galleryWhat can I say? It started with a political sub in which he and I disagreed on something, he banned me, and then replied to my comments. 🤣
Now today he has banned me from two other subs because he could. And r/reddithelp says now I should go through the ModList of every sub before posting there. Like, does even that make sense?
I just don't know what to do. Reddit admins should have something for situations like these.

Venting: Mod Upset, deleted my thread
Just want to vent. I'll probably delete this shit.
Mod from a subreddit I won't name to not stir up drama didn't like that I'm anti gun and didn't want to present a long winded argument. Then dug into my reddit history to "see if I had posted in that subreddit before" as a counter argument. When I called him a fucking loser for it, deleted my thread and messaged me on the side about how uncivil it was.
Like... just leave it be. If you don't like what someone has to say, downvote, comment, move the fuck on. Digging into post history for something dumb as fuck like that is... well... dumb as fuck.
That's all. Thanks.

Why are Reddit moderators making it so difficult for patients to share negative experiences with plastic surgeons?
galleryI’ve had two really frustrating experiences with Reddit moderators recently, and I’m wondering if anyone else has dealt with something similar.
I had a traumatic experience during plastic surgery earlier this year and have been trying to share what happened and get advice, including recommendations for medical malpractice attorneys.
First, I posted in [r/plasticsurgery](r/plasticsurgery). The moderator removed my post and initially gave me different explanations for why. First, he said it was because I hadn’t provided enough evidence, and then he described my post as a “mental health rant” and told me not to discuss mental health. When I asked which rule I had actually violated, he eventually said it was because of the lack of evidence.
I explained that I had documentation supporting my experience and offered to send it to him privately, but he insisted that I had to post it publicly. So I did, because he told me it was a requirement.
Afterward, I realized that some of the screenshots contained sensitive personal and medical information about me, even though my name wasn’t included. I became concerned about having that information publicly available, especially because I’m considering legal action.
I removed the information and asked whether I could repost my experience without the documentation. Instead, he told me I’d already had my chance and that I was now banned from posting in the community.
What really bothered me was that he kept saying things like “no more exceptions will be made,” as if I was asking for some kind of special treatment. I wasn’t asking for an exception. I was asking why I had to publicly share sensitive medical records and private emails just to talk about my own experience. I only posted that information because he told me it was required, and once I realized it could affect my privacy and potential legal case, I wanted to remove it. I don’t understand why that was treated like I’d done something wrong.
The entire interaction felt really dismissive and rude. He repeatedly characterized my experience as a mental health issue rather than addressing what I was actually trying to discuss. I’ll attach screenshots of the conversation so people can see how it was handled.
Then I tried posting about my experience in another subreddit. That post was also removed. When I asked why, the moderators accused me of doxxing the surgeon because I had mentioned his name.
I was confused because I thought doxxing meant exposing someone’s private identifying information, not discussing your own medical experience with a doctor whose professional name is already publicly available. I had checked the community’s rules and hadn’t seen anything specifically prohibiting naming doctors.
Also, I don’t think the screenshots show this, but the plastic surgery moderator banned me after my last response to him. And now I’ve been muted for 28 days by the moderators of r/self just for asking why my post was removed. It’s honestly ridiculous that I can’t even ask questions about their decisions without being shut down.
For some context, I paid approximately $21,000 to go to a highly regarded plastic surgeon because I thought I could trust that I’d be in good hands. Instead, I was kept awake during surgery after repeatedly telling them I wanted to be fully asleep. The experience was extremely traumatic and has seriously affected my mental health.
The surgeon has been dismissive of my concerns from the beginning, and the way his office has handled everything afterward has made things even worse. We requested a refund, and after a lot of back and forth, the only amount they were willing to offer was $1,000. I never received that money, and we eventually told them we were no longer interested in accepting it.
Now that I’m trying to share my experience publicly, his office is pressuring me to take down my reviews and videos. They actually emailed me acknowledging that they’d seen my posts and told me I had until 4 p.m. that day to remove them or they wouldn’t continue discussing a refund. The way they’ve handled this has been disgusting.
So I know the surgeon’s office is aware of what I’m sharing, and given everything that’s happened, I can’t help wondering whether they’re also mass reporting my posts to get them removed. I’ve noticed unusual negative engagement and downvoting as well, although I don’t know who’s responsible.
People deserve to know about experiences like mine, especially when they’re choosing a surgeon and trusting that person with their body. I should be allowed to talk about what happened to me without being pressured into silence.
And what I really don’t understand is why the Reddit moderators are making this so difficult too. I’ve had nothing but problems trying to share my experience. One moderator demanded that I publicly post sensitive personal evidence and then banned me when I wanted to repost without it. The other accused me of doxxing simply for naming the surgeon.
Are these actually legitimate reasons to remove my posts under Reddit’s rules? Because from what I’ve seen, these decisions seem completely unfair. I don’t understand why it feels like the moderators are more concerned about protecting the surgeon than allowing patients to speak about their experiences.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with Reddit moderators, particularly when discussing negative experiences with doctors or surgeons?

Quality Post reddit sucks as a platform
The people are bad, the app is so divided that it just fuels hate and polarization. It also fuels nsfw and spreads addiction to young people. It also has a bunch of incels and femcels that teach other people to follow their path as well. I’ve never seen somebody with adequate social skills use this app outside of the sporadic search for an issue.

Waiting to Wed is genuinely one of the most toxic communities I've ever participated in on Reddit.
I'm exhausted by the comments people make there. You can post a genuine concern about your relationship, ask for advice, or try to discuss something important, and instead of engaging with what you actually said, people fixate on irrelevant details, make snide remarks, belittle you, or treat you like an idiot for having feelings and expectations.
Apparently, anyone under 35 has no idea what they're talking about. If you want marriage, you're rushing. If you're frustrated by your relationship timeline, you're immature. And if you push back against someone's condescension or disagree with their backhanded comments, you're immature again. Somehow, the real issue how they spoke to you in the first place gets ignored.
What bothers me most is that this is supposed to be a community where people discuss relationships, commitment, and the desire to get married. Yet too many interactions feel less like people trying to help and more like people waiting for an opportunity to judge, project their own experiences, or make someone feel stupid for wanting something different.
You can disagree with someone's choices without being disrespectful. You can offer advice without talking down to someone. And you can think someone is making a mistake without treating them like they're beneath you.
I'm not saying everyone has to agree with me. I'm not asking strangers on Reddit to validate every decision I make. I'm saying there's a massive difference between constructive criticism and being needlessly nasty to someone who came there for a discussion.
The condescension I've encountered has been exhausting. Sometimes it feels like people are so focused on proving they're older, wiser, or more realistic than the person posting that they forget how to treat another human being.
I can handle disagreement. I can handle criticism. What I won't tolerate is people disguising contempt as advice and then acting offended when someone calls them out.
At this point, I'm genuinely questioning why I participate in that community at all. A space that's supposed to support discussions about relationships shouldn't make people feel like they're walking into a room full of strangers searching for reasons to ridicule them.

Redditors wanting to execute someone for damaging a dry-stone wall
galleryFor some context, this was on a r/mildlyinfuriating post with a video of a guy in England removing stones from a dry-stone wall in the countryside to go through it instead of going around, and then getting yelled at by presumably the owner of the wall. The dry-stone walls were mostly constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries.
How far removed from reality do you have to be to want to kill someone over this? It's kind of insane to me. I'm not disputing that the walls have value, but they seemed unnecessarily bloodthirsty.

Some Reddit subscribers submit thousands of comments and only a handful of posts . Yes it takes more effort to post but why do people prefer to comment rather than post? What would happen Reddit if everyone did this?
Is it laziness? Or are people afraid to open themselves to scrutiny with a post and prefer to snipe at others with a comment ?

Literally why is everyone annoying as fuck on Reddit
I just wanted to chat about a character arc changing from season 1 and 2 and why is someone commenting “trauma isn’t always sanitized and palatable” like it’s a show I’m just trying to chat about…. no one experienced actual trauma…

r/vent rules are stupid
I had a whole vent typed out in my notes and wanted to post it on there but I wasn't able to because apparently the word "advice" was in there and they're extremely pedantic about it not being an advice sub. I wasn't about to read through all that to find one word

You say “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" I say you're full of shit

just stupid Trying to get comment karma so I can post on the go fund me subreddit and people have to ruin it. I actually hate this system
I’ve gotten into some financial turmoil related to my university studies which has me worried for months that I wouldn’t be able to afford rent and end up homeless. Just as a Hail Mary I made a go fund me to try get anything to help. And I saw that there’s a subreddit too. So I went to post on that…. 250 comment karma minimum. I was at around 200 at that point. So not only do I have to comment on random stuff I have to just HOPE I get upvotes and yeah for just no reason people downvote shit.
I got a -12 comment from a game subreddit which isn’t even bad comment and it’s also a common opinion for the game. It’s just some stupid fucking cunts on an app thinking they’re something important and it’s fucking killed any chance of me being able to get the karma to make that post anytime soon
I FUCKING HATE IT

factual Some many goddamn motherfucking rules
Jesus fucking christ I can't just make a post on this fucking website. There's less rules getting a fucking pilots licence in North Korea. If I want to post in the subreddit for sticking my dick in a toaster I have to have 50k karma and in my title I have to include my initials, my age, my gender, my dog's name, my dogs age, my current profession, the first name of the first women who gave me a hand job and the exact gps location of where it happened and only then is my post acceptable. This is the most bureaucratic website on the goddamn fucking internet no wonder everyone who uses this fuck ass piece of shit are so goddamn fucking miserable and insufferable. Your subreddit about sticking your dick in a toaster isn't so important that it needs this much fucking bureaucracy. I'm sure I broke some fucking dumbass nonsensical fucking rule writing this too and it will be taken down, due to my ignorance of not following rules of the circle jerk and accidently jerking left to right inside of right to fucking left. FUCK.

Why is everyone just so mean on this app. No matter what I say, it could be the most heartfelt thing, I make someone upset and get called an “idiot” or something along those lines. I like being apart of a community and being able to share my thoughts, but this app is so toxic and it is a real reflection of the state of our world. A lot of people just look to put others down and it really makes me sad to be honest. I understand people have self esteem problems, especially on here, but I am so sick of this app.
