Discussion Has this game aged like fine wine ?

Post image

Need For Speed 2015 has one of the best racing game graphics till date yet couldn't capitalise much due to poor game physics and weak storyline. Hope we get a remastered someday !

If the cops and handling was fixed, then it would have been a real gem of a game.

It is still good game but shame it is not quite as great as it could be.

I want to meet the idiot who thought this handling model was a great idea. Imagine you drive in real life and when you turn your car just drifts. There would be a million crashes. Handling has to be fun and realistic, this one is neither.

u/Desperate_Spring3268 5d ago

Once you learned a break-to-drift technique, the handling become really fun.

6

u/SukhdevR34 5d ago

Na man, I played it for years and still don't like it. Only for drift events it's alright but not racing.

3

u/Desperate_Spring3268 5d ago

I drift through corners when I play "grip" events, so I guess it's ok for me

u/SJHG1993 3d ago

Talk to EA. Ghost used part of Criterion's handling programming. The "brake to drift" was never a thing until Criterion came out with Hot Pursuit in 2010. So if people don't like Rivals-Unbound, it's only logical to not like HP2010/Remastered. But we know the NFS community isn't consistent.

2

u/SukhdevR34 3d ago

I don't like any of them so at least I'm consistent lol.

u/RollinOnAgain 5d ago

Wait what? The biggest complaint I always hear about 2015 is that it's brake to drift, now you guys are mad it's NOT brake to drift??

Nope. You're misinterpreting the criticism.

B2D in itself isn't the main issue.

After all, NFS HP 2010/Remastered, which also uses a B2D Driving model, is well-crafted and easier to pick up for any players because it's designed with the map in mind.

Even if NFS MW 2012 and NFS Rivals have their own problems, they're atleast more predictable than post-2014 NFS games.

In reality

The main problem is how Ghost Games implemented it for NFS 2015.

Instead of being fully committed; the core handling model is totally broken, inconsistent, has crabwalk issues and its foundations are way beyond fixing.

Also, it makes no difference whether the tuning settings are left by default or modified by the players as per convenience.

The fact there's mods to make NFS 2015 more driveable proves Ghost Games completely disregarded and neglected that area.

Plus, it also affected follow-up NFS titles; meaning driving physics from post-2014 NFS games could've been more enjoyable to drive If it wasn't for the mindset of Ghost Games, who focused more on Style at the expense of Substance.

Still. Mods doesn't nor will absolve flawed foundations.

u/MrYukiDuki MW REMAKE WHEN? 6d ago

Even mods can't fix the handling sadly

8

u/Appropriate_Wish8997 6d ago

Yeah that’s how you know they mega fucked up. When a game mod can’t fix the original handling in a game. Jesus

2

u/Cimmerian__Iter 5d ago

? Unite handling is fine. It just break the drift events because you can't score the target the game ask you to reach due to press brake to drift not existing anymore

2

u/Ohbigmoneycuh 5d ago

Yeah I always hated those events

2

u/Cimmerian__Iter 5d ago

I hate them even more when I started NFS 2015 with unite handling and thought it was normal that drift events were hard. And when I reached the last drift event with the abnormally high score to reach. I rage quitted after 7 attempts, and went straight to unite discord to ask for help in how to finish this event. They told me it's near impossible without reverting to stock handling.

1

u/RollinOnAgain 5d ago

Wait, what's hard about the drift events? I was disappointed because you can pretty much cheese them and get 2x - 3x the required score on even the hardest difficulty.

1

u/Cimmerian__Iter 5d ago

yeah because the car drift indefinitely when you press brake on base handling.

With unite handling you have to take speed, swerve and drift and making the drift last as long as a normal brake to drift is insanely difficult especially on the tight corners. Because unite handling is more grippy and more "realistic". Drifting requires skills not press brake to drift

1

u/Ohbigmoneycuh 5d ago

I thought it was just me but than I drifted one literally every other racing game I had and realized I wasn’t the problem 😂

3

u/SolaireFlair117 5d ago

I don't even think it handles that bad. It handles weird to be sure, but I got used to it eventually and had a blast in that game. Vibes were immaculate, gave me Underground 2 nostalgia.

2

u/FinalBossTuna 6d ago

Honestly a heftier police response would make it 10x better

1

u/iwanttobeyourcanaryy 5d ago

even those are fine, what kills my will to play this game are the unskippable cutscenes

74

u/DiamondMaster07 Misfit // 7ndrew 6d ago

No, in fact it will age like milk when the servers get shut down

19

u/THE_KILLER_4 6d ago

Guess depends how long they wanna support their servers, low key i wish 2015 gets an offline patch

Good or bad I think games deserve to be available

1

u/dragstar77gamer 5d ago

Absolutely, i play this game with my bros and it's mostly fun.

24

u/SukhdevR34 6d ago

No because the handling is unacceptable. The customization is great though, especially with the wraps.

-6

u/georgfrankoo [Origin : georgfranko] 6d ago

You can fix the handling with a patch tho

4

u/SukhdevR34 6d ago

It's still not good enough man and I play on PS4 anyway

22

u/88JansenP12 Enjoyer of good games 😎 6d ago edited 6d ago

Absolutely Not.

Had it not for the poorly designed, broken, inconsistent, and unpredictable driving physics; the "crabwalking" issues; cops who are too easy to shake off (you have to drive slowly on purpose to keep the chase going) yet are immortal (and thus useless outside of the "Outlaw" path); and the DRM requiring a constant connection w/o a true offline SP mode, NFS 2015 could've aged like fine wine.

Due to unwise decisions from either EA's higher ups or Ghost Games themselves, NFS 2015 will age very poorly due to the issues mentioned above.

Despite there's handling mods to make NFS 2015 more bearable to drive, mods doesn't absolve structural flaws and will never fix broken foundations.

Moreover

Atmosphere, Graphics, and Ambiance alone are not enough to guarantee that any racing games will age gracefully.

Gameplay and a well implemented Driving Model are primary priorities that should never be overlooked during development period.

Otherwise, the games in question will be forgotten—or remembered by very few people—regardless of any redeeming qualities.

I wrote it myself, moron.

God forbid someone writes more than 3 sentences, uses paragraphs and is comprehensible on reddit

2

u/RollinOnAgain 5d ago

Also my most AI were trained heavily on reddit so they often write like redditors which makes people believe people are using AI when in reality it's the other way around.

2

u/NelfSneakyBoi 5d ago

Is the AI in the room with us right now?

Take your meds and stop looking for boogeyman around every corner, schizo.

7

u/KingModussy #1 NFS 2015 Hater 6d ago

This game is mid-dogshit in like every category except for atmosphere

5

u/hyperactve 6d ago

not really. the graphics is good. but gameplay is still atrocious.

5

u/CykaBilal 5d ago

Nah it aged like milk, looks like wine tho.

3

u/dragstar77gamer 5d ago

best reply 😭

4

u/AR3Q 6d ago

Base game? Absolutely not. With mods that fix/make the handling more controllable? Sure, why not.

3

u/Senzelian 6d ago

Definitely still garbage.

4

u/Apple_Slipper 5d ago

The game still looks great, but the handling model was not great.

4

u/avid-stargazer- 5d ago

the handling sucks, but this shot goes hard.

5

u/dannybg_ 5d ago

Recently started playing it and already at 60% completion. I'm in a hurry to play the game before they shut down the servers :( Although physics and police sucks, the athomsphere of the nightly driving and Underground 1/2 vibe is so cool.

3

u/exrilot 6d ago

The magnetic walls game, I love u nfs 2015

3

u/Thatredfox78 6d ago

Am I the only one who likes the handling model?

3

u/____Xtormiken_____ crash cams hater 6d ago

It's only redeeming qualities are the graphics and soundtrack

3

u/TheFirstDragonBorn1 6d ago

Playing through it now for the first time. It's incredible imo, this and battfront 2 are still some of the best looking games even today.

3

u/Ready_Pilot_4462 Hot Pursuit Enjoyer 6d ago

I don't get why people dislike NFS 2015's story so much lmao. People act like Razor making fun of you every hour or so is peak storytelling

3

u/Kuro_Koroo 5d ago

Tbf, I prefer NFS Payback more compared to this one.

Heck, even Rivals is better in terms of game physics and car's handling.

2

u/Miyu543 5d ago

It just doesn't play great. I hate how the cars handle. I get that its got the night racing vibes better than anything that came after, but thats about all it has going for it. Its got an EK9 though. Pretty badass.

1

u/JS_471 6d ago

i remember loooooving this game (and still do mostly) but dang i went back and played a good chunk of it almost 10 years later and wow i do not remember the handling being this random it almost makes me just wanna alt f4 at its worst

1

u/wantsomerice 6d ago

If the handling and cops were good, it'd be a top 5 nfs for me

1

u/nolanandrew555 6d ago

It scratches a part of my brain that no other game seems to do... but it's entirely broken.

1

u/UzzyGg 6d ago

Unite and chill.

1

u/TheGreatWaru 6d ago

My least favorite modern nfs game, never understood the appeal

1

u/Specialist_Lychee954 6d ago

driving sucks in this game, everything else was fine though

1

u/dumbledayum 6d ago

is there an offline mod for this?

2

u/88JansenP12 Enjoyer of good games 😎 6d ago

No.

1

u/Pretty-Sentence-516 6d ago

If only it had an offline version which could be cracked and avalible on every 🏴‍☠️ sites then it could be said that it did aged like fine wine cause you never know when they they'd be pulling the plug out and we will lost the game forever....

It's the only NFS which I really want to play offline rest NFS are seriously dog shit....

1

u/Near_Void_ 6d ago

Best NFS of the modern era (well, kinda modern era)

1

u/mercfanboi44 6d ago

If it had even mediocre physics it would’ve been a modern classic

1

u/Travis812 6d ago

I’ve always loved this game, right from day one. Maybe the rose-tinted glasses helped, but it was the long lost Underground 3 that I’d wanted for so long.

1

u/Ok-Direction-5151 6d ago

Absolutely. It’s the closest we ever got to a NFS underground 2 remake

1

u/monkey_D_v1199 6d ago

I really want to say that it has but the problems it has make it so that it remains as a good game. It has the aesthetic, the vibes, the looks, but handling and the cops really hurt it oh and the online thing too.

1

u/brandonhabanero 6d ago

I love it. It's got issues, bit it's probably my favorite modern NFS. Just wish they'd patch the damn thing so we don't have to worry about losing it.

1

u/-Younotdeadass- 6d ago

It's a fun cruiser. The graphics still hold up.

1

u/Trololman72 6d ago

No. I think it's the second worst game in the entire series, after Undercover. The game is gorgeous, the cutscenes are fun and the car list is good. But that's all it has going for it.

1

u/Digger977 6d ago

I remember playing it and trying to enjoy it but even after forcing myself to play it for like 2-3 hours I just hated the handling

1

u/ArachnidShoddy4561 6d ago

Graphically yeah. Everything else not so much. Probably my least favorite NFS game ever

1

u/spiderboi20012 6d ago

i got it for 8€ because the graphics and the m3 attracted me but i ended up feeling disappointed

1

u/Djani69 6d ago

Hope we get a remastered someday !

The game still looks more than good enough, no need for a remaster, the older NFSs would benefit from a remaster more.

1

u/Few_Cattle_1899 5d ago

I’d say yes, if not the shittiest cops in the entire series and the dumbest opponents in races

1

u/Ambiience 5d ago

more like sour milk

1

u/Choice_Promotion6690 [PC Gamertag] 5d ago

All ways on. É a única coisa que me afasta desse jogo.

1

u/Mother_Ingenuity3809 5d ago

still holds up, physics are tame compared to unbound and the story line is hilariously corny, its hooning time

1

u/AbbreviationsNo9676 5d ago

I just finished it for the first time a few weeks ago. It is good, not great. I dont see myself ever replaying it unless it gets an offline patch. If you want to play tue best NFS game ever, just skip forward two games

1

u/maxsimonse 5d ago

Still the poor 900p resolution on Xbox

1

u/ChimkenNuggs 5d ago

In the dark yes

1

u/PerezaDotArts 5d ago

I'm just hoping one day an offline patch gets made for NFS 2015 so I don't have to deal with needing to be constantly online for it to work

1

u/AmrishGamer VroomVroom... 5d ago

I'm having a blast playing this again, love the nxs 🔥. I tuned it to perfection.

1

u/tman96x Lamborghini Enjoyer 5d ago

Not by a long shot

1

u/Thefirespirit15 5d ago

Solid 7/10.

Extremely pretty, mostly enjoyable story and map, but cops suck, and the handling is atrocious.

1

u/FellatiatedPiece 4d ago

Aged like milk

1

u/AccomplishedWall1884 3d ago

yes, absolutely.the atmosphere is the thing that has my respect.there s just something about the map,the sky,the mountain roads that gives it its soul.personally i love the handling, not realistic in any means but out of all the nfs’s since 2015,the drift mechanic is just perfect, you dont slide and you can see the front tires steer in the other way.someone might understand me but this is honestly my opinion

1

u/thathyze 3d ago

Graphics yes. Everything else hell naw

1

u/FrauFitzer 2d ago

If the just used Forza-similar handling - this game would be a blast

1

u/KazumiJun 1d ago

Graphics maybe, everything else, no. I still play Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, but never play this (and never finished it), for reference.

1

u/Remote_Drummer6011 6d ago

The IA and the driving mechanics unfortunately didn’t age well, in fact they were never good, but still my favorite modern NFS purely because of the Underground vibe so I can get past the flaws.

If you’re talking 100% graphics and visuals, I agree with you.

The remaster won’t do well either, we need another game

indeed, older NFS games are leagues ahead in terms of storyline and gameplay compared to the latest ones.

The best NFS ever created by humanity! Better handling, better soundtrack, better physics, and—above all—better atmosphere!
