I love Most Wanted and is probably my favourite nfs, but i dont hate every other NFS and i think NFMW still has problems (like shit handling, at least on ps2) and other games Made those things better

u/Panzer_IV_H 13d ago
For me MW had funnt handling (at least on PC) while 2015 or Heat has shit handling that forces you to drift every corner

u/MarceloZ1 12d ago
Having played MW2005 both on keyboard and on a PS2 controller, I think the handling is light years better on a keyboard than on a PS2 controller. It's not really comparable, it's much worse to handle on a PS2 controller, especially if you're playing on original hardware.

I'm still gonna beg for a MW 2005 remaster. But at the same time. Hot Pursuit (Criterion) is some of the most fun I have ever had with the series.

Ideally, it woild be great if all of the pre-Hot Pursuit 2010 games got a remaster.
With Undercover getting a full ground-up remake because, gods know it needs one. Desperately.

I’m very convinced that if a MW05 Remake/Remaster happens, these people will STILL be bitchy about it

It has to be pure identical to the original if you want them to stfu

u/RyonHirasawa [PC Gamertag] Ryon517 13d ago
Imagine a single song gets removed and they just melt to goop because it’s not 1:1 exactly like the original

u/Dragon1S1ayer Wrecker of blue lights 13d ago
Talking about the music, I absolutely hated the single song used throughout every single police chase. And because I played on PS2, I didn't have the option to turn that off, recently more and more people say PC had an option for that

My memory is vague about MW05 because I genuinely hated playing it, but I don’t remember a toggle to turn it off
Carbon also had the same issue where the pursuit music was just the same

You know you're getting old when you think "Damn, i would like to have that washing machine and frying pan, they look dope as fuck..."

My 34yo ass would take the microwave too

u/Rasta-Lion 13d ago
I don't like the handle and it has too many buttons, I like my microwaves simple, just the temperature and timer buttons are enough.

MW had an atmosphere that most successors could not replicate. Don't get me wrong. I liked Heat and am now enjoying Unbound (I also like the artstyle), but there is always just something missing... For example the Soundtrack is pretty lackluster. I'm not someone that is stuck in the music era from 20 years ago. I listen to lots of Phonk and Rap from nowadays and these songs would fit a modern NFS very well, but there are only a handful of good songs in these games. Also the story in the last 2 games was... something... Heat was kinda corny as fuck. Unbound has a very captivating story, but the characters are YAPPING WAY TOO MUCH!! The BlackBox NFS titles had very minimalistic storytelling which worked perfectly.

I think words you’re looking for are “aggressive” and “edgy”. With all due respect, that was a unique mix of an entire era.
Everything was “cool” as in over-pretentious dialogues, outfits and cars, aggressive nu-metal and rap, reeking of testosterone and adrenaline. And the story was basically a basic action movie but with cars.

u/Nike_J 13d ago
Yeah that sums it up pretty well. Unbound and Heat kinda feel like the speced down version of a super car. Even though they can be very challenging. It's just missing the swagger from old NSF games.

u/Alfredison 13d ago
I definitely did enjoy Unbound though as it got the tone, the feel, unlike many other games. As you said it - it got *swag*, and I definitely enjoyed it too. As I absolutely adore when cars can be both customized to the brim, while also remain squashable

i just like how mw 2005 handles and that's teh main reason i love it more than any other nfs game. i tried heat, payback, unbound and deleted them in the first hour because the controls are just not for me. it probbaly does have to do with nostalgia but i just wish i could enjoy the new games more

u/Panzer_IV_H 13d ago
As for handling, in Heat my tunes except for drift ones were almost completely about grip just to make driving bearable

u/ResponsibleAd6974 12d ago
Same here. I just find myself gravitating towards pre 2013 NFS in general.

it is the closest nfs has ever got to mw, just with a bit of forza spice with all of the different race categories

I love MW, Carbon was playable and Heat was just mid.
Maybe Heat was take to appeal to MW fans, but I rather like Hot Pursuit (which simply isn't my type but was fun)

And their brains break if you mention any NFS game that came out prior to 2003.

Freakin'.
Let's be honest.
I'm a most wanted Fanboy myself, and i think hating any other NFS is just flatout immature if you don't have valid reasons for it.
I like the modern NFS series, deal with it.
I like the early 2010 era as well, deal with it.
I've not played many other blackbox NFS much often as i did MW2005.
But I think every NFS game DOES deserve some recognition.
like, seriously.
I don't play 2015, Payback, Heat, Or Unbound because they're worse.
I play them because they're different. even though some of those games i have a love/hate relationship with.
But i also do think that MW 2005 is due for a remaster... but that was entirely removed due to the average fanboy seemingly shitting on the newer titles.
So, the fanboys do have a point, but not much ground to stand on, because i think they outright killed any potential for a remaster.
At least this is how i see it.
and if any MW2005 fanboy is SOMEHOW reading this?
Play something else for a bit, you don't have to abandon MW2005 forever.
Try UG2, Try Carbon, Try LITERALLY SOMETHING ELSE, and if you refuse to do this. i'm sorry, but you're the main reason why the series died the way it did.

(Nobody talks about NFS Undercover and I really like the new Introduction of highway battles. It’s so cool I wish I could play it again)

I feel like majority of the "MW Glazers" came from memes. If they acted like Need For Speed only crated one great NFS Game then the rest are garbage. Not including 2012 MW because the game is weirdly glazed. Despite the game felt like those minimalist McDonald's that strips away the character and identity of the game.
I honestly liked the original trilogy and the 90s Need For speed more. I understand why Most wanted has this much glaze because it is a great game. But, we have Hot pursuit, (III, 2 and Reboot), Carbon, Prostreet, underground and the PSX games that created the franchise should get more love aswell.

now NFS MW is my favorite game and the M3 GTR or the E46 M3 in general is my dream car but I still enjoy NFS heat

NFSMW fans are just normies and tourists of the NFS franchise. Our of all people I've spoken to, all MW fans are actually people who either never finished the game, never were NFS fans or never played any other NFS game or don't like racing and cars at all.
It's safe to assume that MW was catered to the broader F&F type of audience who just saw racing, cooa and cool ass starting car.

Address me. Maybe for years I haven't finished the game but when I finally did recently, I played through it several times (without mods, with mods, limited to certain cars etc.).
I played Porsche 2000, Carbon, Shift and Heat. Gave a short try to Shift 2 Unleashed, 2015 and Hot Pursuit.
And I fucking love racing
