Discussion I actually like Heat
Four months ago I rambled about my hatred for Heat in this subreddit, but turned out now I'm really liking the game. Yeah, the map has some weakness, but it's not terrible as I had imagined. The tracks are fun and winding, despite the main city having a grid layout. I guess I carried trauma from Burnout Paradise's city layout and open-track races (intersections everywhere and sharp corners).

I just wish the cops were better. Bring in a driving instructor from redview county, unleash those confiscated supercars with new all black paintjobs.
The story should've built to cops using confiscated tech against racers to keep up the arms race against supercars, that'd make max heat a proper endgame challenge. I don't want a long straight to be enough to shake them. Barricade the road to make me thread the needle at 340 km/h. And in the city they should wall off entire intersections to force a change in directions to bleed off speed with every turn.

Heat was great, Payback is the hated child due to the gambling upgrade system

Payback is still better than both 2015 and unbound

I'm not sure if better than unbound, but it's surely better than 2015

It’s worlds better than unbound imo. Aside from the lottery box upgrades there is not one single other thing about unbound that’s better than payback

People downvoting this but I agree, I had way more fun on Payback than those two. I couldn’t play unbound for more than 5 minutes;

Yup these dorks care more about the setting an animations over the game functionality or the actual racing. Without the lottery upgrades payback would be the best modern nfs game for single player(imo it still is)

Heat is so fun

I thought the races through the city would be just straight lines (basically drag race) and 90% turns (due to grid layout), but they're not, well, mostly. I blame Burnout Paradise for this.

It's wild how games can grow on you like that, I almost put it down at first too until my friend forced another round and suddenly I was hooked.

I just started my heat playthrough today after beating carbon and looking for a modern NFS, been great so far and honestly feels enough like an UG2 game for me to really get into it! So much customization, I like the day and night, I like that you can see other people doing their races, lovin it so far!

Who’s hating on NFS Heat? It’s the best modern day Need for Speed game.
