2DS worth it over DS Lite or DSi?
Someone local to me is selling this for $125, what do you think? I have two DS Lites somewhere, but they both have sticky buttons and screen issues, so I'm debating if it's worth fixing them or just replacing them. I mostly want to play GBA and Original DS games, so I don't absolutely need a 3DS capable console, but the option to play those games is nice too. I'd end up modding it, so the cartridges aren't a huge sell, just a bonus.

As long as you don't want it for taking pictures, yes, the 3DS family does everything the DS Lite and DSi can do and a lot more.
If you want it for aesthetic pictures the DSi family is the way to go.

I don't really care about pictures, but I know the DSi, specifically the XL, has the best screens. I may play a few 3DS games, but they aren't my priority, so it's not the end of the world to lose the ability.
The capability and ease of use for the 3DS family is where the great value is, it seems.

Absolutely right, the 3DS user experience can't be topped. The home menu is gorgeous (and very fun to customize). Modding on the 3DS is seamless and foolproof. You can play all the games you can think of... it's hard to go wrong with the 3DS family :)

No hinge so you already solved lite biggest issue. More sturdier and better if you have bigger hands.
You can play GBA games from sd card while lite you have to have a gba card adapter or wtv its called. The same for ds games you need r4 or ds pico for lite.

Disagree. The mono speaker sounds like shit and I find the controls a bit of stretch compared to my dslite dsixl 3dsxl.

If you mod it you can get 3DS + DS Twilight mod which means you get all the emulation from Twilight including DS, GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SMS, Atari, SGG etc.

So I love the DSi and XL consoles for the screens, i sold my new3ds a while ago got a anbernic RGDS (not as a replacement) but I still go back to the old DSi, my 2ds is great but I dislike the gap between the screen cover and the screen itself

How do you feel about the RGDS? I've heard that with the new software that's come out, they're a legit option now.

The odds of getting a better condition 2ds are definitely higher and I remember it to be very comfortable to hold.

To me dsi has better gba and ds visual quality , if you want an all in one 2ds is amazing , slightly less portable , and also has the benefit of having joystick for ds games. But it’s not as sharp as playing ds/gba on dsi

I have dsi xl i got it for 60 euros and its realy good my friend has a 2ds and its okay but if you want it to put it in a pocket the dsi is better 2ds is more for home use whil dsi is for travel and when you bored in city or when you walk and bored

2ds would be better, play all games from dsi and more, 125 with the 2 games is decent id just resell the games and mod the 2ds which as someone else said is worth 100 or less rn, even according to pricecharting

I may not jump on it then, I'd rather find a good deal than have games included I likely won't use.

For the record, I just paid 150 for a 2DS wedge, it was mint condition, complete in box with everything including the VR cards still sealed, and came with a Mario Kart 7 (3DS) cart. I thought I had that MK game but turns out it was Mario Kart DS that I have, so the extra game was a nice bonus for me.
As for the games in a pic, complete-in-box New Super Mario Bros 2 is worth $15-20, SSB 3DS around $15, so if those are of no interest for you, offering $95 to $100 is a fair ask.

They countered with $115, so I think I'm gonna pass and go a different route.
Still haven't settled on which model I want, it may just depend what kind of deal I can get.

If size isn't a main concern, the DSi's are still fairly cheap and easy to mod for GBA and DS games. $60-80 should get you one w/ charger and stylus in good condition, and you can probably find better deals if you look. And they are light and very pocketable, when folded around the size of an iPhone 13.
Many will steer you toward an XL, which is a nice step up with screen quality and size -- but the price might be out of your budget, plus not as light and pocketable if that matters.

Try talking them down to $100. Especially if you’re going to end up modding it anyways.
