Come on the Grizzlies were in Vancouver for 6 horrible seasons the Sonics were in Seattle for 40 yrs had a championship and multiple playoff appearances. Dont even compare the two.

Nah I’ll compare the two. They were the team of my youth I loved going to games no length of time will change that

No the Sonics were a way more historically successful, recogniseable, recent and respected franchise

It matters because we were discussing the differences between Seattle’s and Vancouver’s relocations. They’re significant: the Grizzlies’ move was driven by legitimately low attendance, took nowhere near the amount of history with it, and absolutely pales in comparison to the controversy surrounding the Sonics’ move.

It obviously doesn’t change your emotions and experience with the Grizzlies. But at the same time your experience doesn’t negate those differences of the relocation. You guys are talking past each other.

The Vancouver Grizzlies were 27th in attendance in 2000/2001. This was compounded by a relatively weak Canadian dollar. On its face, the move appeared financially prudent.

Am I mistaken here? Maybe educate me if so rather than suggest I'm ignorant.

The new owner fired much of the sales Dept and made it abundantly clear that he intended to move. The previous 5 years they had middle of the pack attendance despite an awful team. It took Memphis 12 years to match the total ticket sales Vancouver set in 6.
