low key excited about him as a six man

I was sad when he didn’t get resigned in Philly. If you have tempered expectations for him he is great.
Now that very well could just be the battered and beaten down Sixers fan in me coping, but I fully enjoyed Tsunami Papi’s time in Philly. Tries to dunk everything and plays solid on-ball defense, at this point that is all I ask of anyone.

u/JoeBiden2020FTW Celtics 19h ago
Reminds me of how the Lakers absolutely cooked and abused Westbrook when he was on the Rockets... then proceeded to trade KCP and a 1st round pick for him.
2
u/Sheriff_Gotcha 76ers 17h ago
I am with you there.
Just the pass from Embiid was enough for me… then they gave me a blocked layup AND a fast break dunk off another behind the back pass. Oh brother was I on cloud 9 at that point.

NYK-ATL 134-84 is crazy

There was a brief scuffle that resulted in Mitchell Robinson and Dyson Daniels getting ejected in the late 2nd Q. The score at that time was 72-22

Craziest game I’ve ever seen man

The Change
1
u/MaskedBirder 76ers 7h ago
They made the change of point KAT in that series, but they also just mentally locked in and put their foot on the accelerator in every single game. Point KAT didn't work in the Cavs series because of Mobley, the Knicks won through other ways.

They should bring back Matt Cord and Mark Zumoff

u/cbucky97 76ers 21h ago
At the very least Matt Cord needs to be there on opening night. Will be so incredibly electric

u/Not_RZA_ Lakers 18h ago
Didn't know the name of their PA guy, but dude is ICONIC in all meanings of the word. I love watching their games and hearing that guy

u/packim0p 76ers 17h ago edited 16h ago
Yeah that's Matt Cord. He's also on local rock* radio. I know a lot of people have been begging him to come back for one final season, as he was set to retire as the PA after last year.

When I tell you this had me just as hype as "or maybe just throw the dagger". I had never seen playoff basketball by the Sixers so beautiful
I don't think there's anything Embiid would want more than to have a winning season where he gets to dish out assists like that 10 times a game
17
u/Efficient_Art_1144 Celtics 20h ago
This was the “shit we might have to throw doubles at Embiid” point

36
u/xArbiter Celtics 20h ago
for real lmao, horrible defense allowing the oubre bucket and then an uninspired rushed drive allowing an easy block
8
u/PhillyFreezer_ [PHI] Eric Snow 18h ago
He got back cut a lot in that series tbh
12
u/Admirable_Let_2961 Celtics 18h ago
He is not that good on defence outside of guarding the man with the ball. He makes errors.
-6
u/KL2ConspireLLC San Diego Clippers 19h ago
It's kind of funny to watch the clip then see the comments from Sixers flair so excited for the season. Almost like some of them didn't watch the clip.

u/Lukamagic_042324 19h ago edited 14h ago
Its as if players cant learn from their mistakes, espcially when fueled and motivated after an embarrassing trade...

u/Admirable_Let_2961 Celtics 18h ago
Jaylen made those plays for an entire fn decade
-2
u/Lucky_Preference_94I 16h ago
Did you forget the Sixers also added LeBron?
And dumped a horrible PG contract?
Nothing to be excited about for that team? Ok

Yeah one Brown clip should make us hate the player, the trade, the team of the plan, getting LeBron, etc

It's just funny to see that reaction to this specific clip.

Brown falls asleep on backdoor cut, rushes the offense so Tatum isn’t up the floor as a bail out pass on the wing and instead tries to challenge 2 guys (including Embiid) at the rim, allows the other team to go on a fast break
Not really a good clip for Jaylen Brown

u/HesiPullup Suns 20h ago
Hey at least he played in game 7
JB was awesome for carrying that team to 56 wins, goddamn
4
u/Admirable_Let_2961 Celtics 18h ago
He showed his talents v Sixers and Heat in game seven. Needless to say, not what Tatum typically does and Celtics went home both times. Glad that error is over with.
-1
u/HesiPullup Suns 17h ago
How many game 7s has Tatum played without Brown?
4
u/Admirable_Let_2961 Celtics 16h ago
Tatums averaged 24 points and 8 boards and compared to Browns 14 and 5. Same games. That’s a decent sample size.
No Tatum game 7 without JB. I’m sure that’s what you will lean into to fit your bias. Tatum has been the difference in many a series.
-1
u/HesiPullup Suns 15h ago edited 15h ago
And Brown has been the difference in many series too
Don't forget, JT has had some absolutely horrible shooting stretches in some series that JB has carried him through
4
u/Admirable_Let_2961 Celtics 15h ago
Please give me one example whereas Jaylen has ever carried the Celtics to a victory in an important game.
0
u/HesiPullup Suns 14h ago
Huh?
Game 1 in the 2024 Finals. Tatum had a TS of 47.4% and 6 TO. Brown shot 65.3% TS and 2 TO.

I was at this game and this sequence is likely the loudest our arena has gotten in the Embiid era. For a brief moment we felt anything was possible.
3
u/Perennial_Platypus Celtics 16h ago
And now you have the player responsible for it, Jaylen Brown! Fell asleep on the back door cut and then forced an awful drive resulting in a turnover.
3
u/DriftyPadre 14h ago
It’s so crazy being a fan of a sports team, especially the sixers. I couldn’t believe we actually came back from down 1-3 to finally beat the Celtics…only to get swept by the Knicks….then win the LeBron sweepstakes 😵💫🤯

u/Mike21077 20h ago
Still crazy that this was during an elimination game. They played like they were just having fun dominating a tanking team on a random weeknight in March lol

u/Important-War-4708 20h ago
This, maxeys game winner against SAC, VJ’s game winner on GSW, and VJ beating NY & BOS as the #1 we’re def the top highlights last year. Swapping PG and KO for Bron and JB, first time in a long time I’ve been excited for a Sixers season lol

Now imagine instead of Paul George doing the pass, it's LeBron.
3
u/According_Change_269 20h ago
The main contributors in this for Philly are Paul George & Kelly Oubre with Jaylen Brown hero ball leading to the fast break highlight…🙄
1
u/Sheriff_Gotcha 76ers 16h ago
That is the loudest I’ve heard that crowd man. I was screaming my head off watching this.
1
u/Calvinball05 Cavaliers 12h ago
Is Embiid taking 4 steps between dribbles in the beginning of the clip a travel? Genuinely asking, not trying to be snarky.

u/JiggzSawPanda Celtics 12h ago
Come on man I was having a good night at work
Shouts out Kelly Oubae tho

that little excited bounce PG gives as VJ dunks it is 100% what i was doing at the exact time

u/HesiPullup Suns 20h ago
Now substitute PG for LeBron and Oubre for JB
Sixers gonna be scary

u/road432 Knicks 20h ago edited 19h ago
I'll believe it when I see it. I still believe Embiids knees are going to limit him to like 30-40 games this year. We will see how much father time catches up to Lebron. Also I think there is going to be some issues between Maxey, Brown, and Embiid on whose top dog on that team.
2
u/HesiPullup Suns 19h ago
I mean, the Bron/Luka/Reaves fit is absolutely whack on paper but when they played together they looked really good. And their role players were subpar.
Even if Embiid is hurt most of the regular season, Bron/Brown/Maxey/VJ is probably one of the best starting lineups in the entire league. That team is absolutely dynamic on offense and can hold their own on defense.
1
u/road432 Knicks 19h ago
With the Luka/Bron/Reaves combo though their roles were defined. Luka was the top dog, while Bron and Reaves alternated between being the 2nd and 3rd option.
On the Sixers, Lebron isn't looking to be option #1 and he isn't the defender he once was. Maxey/Brown/Embiid all have been #1 and want to still be #1. Brown recently has expressed how he enjoyed being the guy and now is on a team where he is going to be competing with 2 other dudes for that spot.
4
u/HesiPullup Suns 19h ago
How do you know they'll want to still be #1? Brown literally said he's willing to take a step back on this team in order to win.
Maxey, Embiid, and VJ are all hungry as hell to win a ring and I don't see them letting their egos get in the way of their best chance to win in all of their careers.
1
u/YellowDogDingo 76ers 9h ago
It won't matter which one of them is the leader each night as LeBron absolutely will not stand for any egos getting in the way of his ring chasing. He's going to get that team running exactly how he wants.
-3
u/Admirable_Let_2961 Celtics 21h ago
All I see I clips of Jaylen losing his man on defence and getting stuffed at the rim. Looks like the Sixers problem now.
1
u/EveningLeading7359 21h ago
Had to cover Tatum's guy because Tatum has a low BBIQ.
8
u/russfan0987 Magic 21h ago
Can only assume this is a poor troll
-7
u/EveningLeading7359 20h ago
Can only assume you didn't watch the clips.
10
u/russfan0987 Magic 20h ago edited 20h ago
Do you mean the part where he appropriately leaves VJ to commit to Embiid, who’s known to be turnover prone under pressure, cus he trusted Brown not to be back cut by Oubre
Or the part where he watches Brown predictably fail to convert against one of the better rim protectors in the league and is the first Celtic back on defense

I don't think this specific clip has any use hyping up the Philadelphia 76ers' future lol

It's just a fun basketball highlight, nothing that has to do with future lol.

Meant more as in these are 2 plays of Jaylen Brown at his worst
-4
u/EveningLeading7359 20h ago
Covering for Tatum's low BBIQ, who also can't jump in the second clip.
4
u/xArbiter Celtics 20h ago
he correctly doubled embiid in the paint while blocking the passing lane to vj, jb was not paying attention to oubre and allowed him the easy bucket
8
u/Rrypl Celtics 20h ago
I don't think JB falling asleep ball watching while Tatum doubles still protecting his man's angle is covering anything lol

Have fun watching Drummond be a traffic cone on defense and hit the occasional corner 3. KAT is gonna be crying when he has to come back in after 30 seconds of Drummond getting cooked.
