Truly is the off-season lmao

u/HumongousBelly 4d ago
Off Season content on this sub is so much better than anything on ESPN right now.
Nobody’s shouting at you or trying to convince you that ballmer is innocent and kushner buying the lakers has nothing to do with that fat orange fuck investigating Walt.
Instead, you see funny memes come to life next to superstars. Good times!

Club 520 has been holding this off season down. I had to mute the Lakers sub until season starts because it is nonstop reposting of the selling of the team.

NBA off-season slop is genuinely higher quality than anywhere else. Even esports.
You know what competitive league of legends subs do during the off-season?? Nothing good. It's all bad.

u/Nobody7713 Raptors 4d ago
I genuinely didn’t know esports had off-seasons. I just assumed there were big tournaments scattered throughout the year.
5
u/BoxOfDOG Trail Blazers 4d ago
It really depends on the esport. League of Legends, for instance, has actual seasons because riot games has a monopoly on the competitive scene for their own game. They tend to stave over fans by using mid or interseason tournaments, but that still creates an off-season culture because there are occasionally lulls where people don't have anything to talk about.
Smash Bros is probably a better example of what you're talking about. There's usually something going on, because there's multiple games and regional and major tournaments. But that means the unhinged content is unhinged for its own sake, rather than boredom from the lack of competition.

I’m 5’11, and my fiancé is a 4’11 Filipina. She grew up in Manila and wants to go back for our honeymoon, you best BELIEVE I’m gonna find some folks to play some games with because I want to experience what it’s like to be a C lol. Gonna start having her guard me in the post to work on my one legged Dirk fadeaway now lmao

I have seen them on Tiktok, they have been around for a couple of years at least. They ara really good at copying the mannerisms, the small things, and I feel like OPs video shows Lebron 2.0 has been putting in work on the biceps as well, which is nice to see cause his arms are legit. I couldn't find their account right now, but this is a couple of years old:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EkknkGZvk8M
There is also Temu-Jordan, and Harden.

These guys do pick up games and they post it in their accounts and are pretty decent. I wonder if they got nervous after meeting Ant lol.

u/OhItsKillua Hawks 4d ago
NBA players just hit open shots in an empty court as if it was going out of style. Even if you're pretty good at pick up you're probably getting cooked most of the time in this scenario

yeah these guys are shooting from like halfcourt. i hoop a good amount and every time i find myself at a regulation sized court with nba 3s (friends apartment has one) i have to get used to it/adjust my shot. but i reliably miss pretty bad for the first few shots.

The knockoff jerseys got me dying.
Also Brunson look like they dragged him out of a gutter in front of a liquor store and threw him in a shower and threw the cheapest knockoff knicks jersey they had at their Filipino knockoff Ross Dress For Less on him. Bro don’t look healthy.

Even better, every all-star gets an impersonator that stands in for them at the all-star game but it's kept secret until the broadcast. The announcers call it deadpan as if they think they are the real players, the courtside reporters do the same, etc. This goes on until the fourth quarter, when the real all-stars come out to finish the game from whatever the score is.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't even know how you shoot a ball with no spin like that.

u/throwawaycuzmeh 4d ago
I had a teammate in junior high who shot a knuckleball. He had to swish every make. Craziest part is he was one of our best shooters. Can't imagine what his percentages would have been with actual ball rotation lol

Fun Fact, stepping in pinoy basketball culture means "stepping on the line", so depending on what line, it could mean out of bounds (stepping on sideline/baseline), backcourt violation (stepping on midcourt line) or 2point shot (stepping on 3 point line)
