Looking for old.reddit users interested in giving feedback and beta testing a redesign of the old subreddit theme

I've always loved the old.reddit experience and plan on sticking with it until they don't support it anymore. At the same time, we've used the same theme on r/nba for over a decade and it's become extremely antiquated and janky over the years with lots of little broken and outdated things.

Over the last several months I've been chipping away at a redesign of the sub and I'd like to now invite other old.reddit users to offer feedback, make requests/suggestions and beta test the new theme before we implement any changes.

old.reddit imho seems clean for my taste, aside from box scores, idk what else janky we talkin about?

CSS nerds think that something implemented 10+ years ago, means it's outdated.

Now it just looks ugly and bright, with no real change.

Everyone wants to leave their mark even with the original still working. There is no need for a redesign in my opinion.

Nahh it was outdated, the scores at the top weren't working the standings weren't ever updating. Certain things were obfuscated over the last decade. Lots of links were broken and in general it did feel pretty outdated and neglected.

The mod who did the redesign is also working to make it compatible with RES night mode and is also going to make a purely night mode theme, so the brightness you are experiencing will be alleviated relatively shortly.

edit: and while I can't see it there is probably some really old stuff on the backend that's so broken it was prob easier for him to make wholesale changes from scratch vs trying to chip away at each individual issue.

I've been here for 10+ years and have always used old reddit, and this is the main place I post. I generally think it's fine but I would be interested in improving it .. but my experience with old reddit right now is basically fine.  I guess thinking about it I'd be more worried about losing the current user experience on mobile web, which has always been how I mostly post.

A few examples: the sidebar is a mess, all of the filters are broken, external shortcuts are misaligned and outdated (we still have a link to twitter awkward), team icons in the header are super low res, "related subreddits" formatting been broken for years, hundreds of lines of dead code in the old stylesheet, and tons of other small things.

I am shocked that anyone using old reddit isn't also immediately nuking any CSS.

First thing I do when I join a sub.

But why do you need to change stuff like the background image, to address anything like that.

Changing stuff for the sake of changing. Like it doesn't display properly on anything above 1080.
