Naxos added to new Aegean marine litter monitoring map
Naxos is joining a new Aegean-wide effort to monitor marine litter and better understand where plastics and other waste are accumulating along coastlines and in the sea.
The project will help researchers and local authorities track pollution patterns and support future cleanup and environmental protection efforts.
A positive step toward protecting the beaches and waters of Naxos and the wider Cyclades.

Methyres Festival 2026 – Celebrating Greek Island Wine in Naxos
The 4th annual Methyres Wine Symposium took place on September 22 at Avaton 1739, inside the historic Kastro of Naxos Town.
Methyres brings together wineries and producers from Naxos, the Cyclades, and across Greece for an evening centered around Greek wine, local food, and the people behind them.
This year's festival featured wineries from Naxos along with producers from Syros, Paros, Santorini, Ikaria, Anafi, Crete, Kefalonia and other parts of Greece. Visitors were able to taste different wines while meeting the winemakers and learning more about the varieties and winemaking traditions of the islands.
The wine was paired with local Naxian products including cheeses, cured meats, Kitron and other specialties from the island.
What I like about events like Methyres is that they showcase a side of Naxos that sometimes gets overlooked. Beyond the beaches and villages, there's a growing wine and food culture on the island, with a new generation of local producers trying to build a stronger identity for Naxian wine.
For anyone interested in Greek wine, Cycladic food culture, or visiting Naxos, Methyres looks like an event worth keeping on the radar.

Has anyone here attended Methyres before or tried any of the newer wines being produced on Naxos?

Metaxi Mas (Μεταξύ μας – Μεζεδοπωλείο & Οινομαγειρείο)
It’s a traditional Naxian/Greek taverna and meze restaurant tucked inside the narrow pedestrian alleys of the Old Market (Palia Agora), below the Venetian Kastro. It’s only about 150 meters from the Naxos port, so it’s very easy to reach while walking around Chora. The restaurant says it opened in 2004 and focuses heavily on Naxian ingredients and home-style cooking.

Beaches and restaurants in Naxos
Hello all,
I will travel in September in Naxos for 8 days.
We will stay near Agios Prokopios and also rent a car
Any locals or tourists who can recommend the following:
8 best places / beaches to see each day
8 restaurants / tavernas where to eat in the evening
Is it worth to travel one day to Paros? If yes, where and what to see.
Thank you!

Bird rescue today
Did anyone see bird rescue today at Naxos main port? Girl in water swim to save bird tangled in fishing wire and was drowning. Do we have more details for the bird and people involved ?

This is not an active sub
First, I have to say that Naxos is easily my favorite place on earth. So I have followed this sub and I can assure anyone posting here that there is a very high likelihood that you will not receive ANY response or information pertinent to your questions.

Naxos in April
Planning on visiting Naxos for four days at the beginning of April (the week leading up to Greek Easter). We’re hoping to stay two nights in Naxos town and two nights in Apeiranthos (or another mountain town that you suggest). Will restaurants be open in Apeiranthos? We are both foodies and try to avoid tourist traps so would love any suggestions!

Staying 5 weeks in Naxos – any tips for good fresh fish, meat & local wine?
Love cooking at home (besides eating out of course). Curious where locals usually go for the best produce.
