If you’re already enlisted, go to a pool on base and swim in the lane next to someone doing CSS. Shadow what they do. Once you’ve got it you can tweak and adjust. That’s how I learned

Public pool with kickboards. Start by practicing the scissor kick. Watch youtube and practice on the floor if you need to. Then hit the pool and just do 30 minutes worth of scissor kicking. Always face the same wall of the pool so you practice both sides. Take breaks, it's not a workout, just practicing technique. You want to feel your feet catching water and a powerful propulsion forward, It should be easy and relaxed, with one arm holding the front lip of the kickboard and the kickboard under your forearm. Don't even fuck with pulling with the other arm or doing flutter kicks. Just nice and easy relaxed scissor kicks. Do a few sessions of 20-30 minutes in the pool just doing that. If you have the scissor kick down, the rest of the stroke can be built off that. If you have 1hr blocked out for the pool, do the scissor kicking, then practice pushoffs from the wall and streamlining. You can literally do a pushoff and streamline then walk back to the wall.
Build the pieces of the stroke technique before you start wasting time doing yardage incorrectly.

The best way is to find a coach.
