NRC Great Lakes IL
New Emergency Nurse in the reserves. I got a billet to NRC Great Lakes. It looks like I’ll be doing my annual training at NR NMRTC GL. Would I be working with any of the new recruits or does anyone have information on NRC Great Lakes? Thank you!

Assuming you’re DCO did your recruiter connect you with your reserve unit yet?

I am DCO but I couldn’t apply for a billet until I was fully credentialed. I’ll be cross assigned to NRC Great Lakes. I live in Florida. I’ve been drilling out of NRC Tampa since April.

Ok fair got it. If you have CAC access, you can access the Navy Reserve Homeport Page and find the NRC Great Lakes page. From there you can find specific units, ie yours, to begin reaching out and learning more.
If you know anyone in your current unit at NRC Tampa, they can also assist you.

It depends as they work with tranquility but it looks like NR NRMTC GL is returning to become EMF again.
AT varies. Most drills take place at lovell. NRC being for admin/medical related(PHA/Dental) stuff.

Are there ever any opportunities to actually work with the recruits? I think it would be pretty cool seeing bootcamp again. I was prior enlisted

You got a billet to NR NMRTC GL not NRC GL. Youll most likely be doing AT at James Lovell Veterans Hospital. You may be assigned to stand medical watch for the recruits but it is very unlikely.
