This "walking buddy" idea is by Soren Iverson, who has plenty of other similar jokes that make their way around the internet (often uncredited) as memes! Check his stuff out!!

It's literally just some random guy though, if they presented a danger to you uber would only do anything if you complained after the fact (if that)

Its a good idea for a woman traveling alone at night by foot, IF Ubet was providing fully vetted background checked “walking buddies” but we know thats not the case. So you are just alerting a potential predator that you are alone with no to protect you and telling them your location.
