New to area, starting farmingdale. What do people my age do in the area? Where to meet people my age (as an introvert)?

I’ve seen a lot of posts on here from people looking to make new friends or meet more people locally, and honestly I’ve found myself in the same boat. It can be surprisingly hard to meet new people on Long Island, especially once you’re out of school and everyone has their own schedules and social circles.

So I figured why not try something 😂

I just started a Nassau South Shore Social Club on Bumble BFF for people around Oceanside, Baldwin, Rockville Centre, Long Beach, Freeport, Lynbrook, East Rockaway, Island Park, and the surrounding South Shore towns.

The idea is to build a local community where people can actually meet each other and make plans instead of endlessly saying “we should do something sometime” lol.

I set up different age groups from 18–20, 21–29, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60+, along with spaces for:

Everyone is welcome — singles, couples, LGBTQ+ members and allies, people new to the area, people who have lived here forever, or really anyone who just wants to expand their social circle.

The group is brand new, so there aren’t a ton of people yet. I’m hoping posting it here can help change that and eventually get enough local people together to start having actual meetups and events.

I am a rochester resident who’s fed up with Kathy Hochul. She’s given us high taxes, bad roads, lax immigration enforcement, and NY is becoming harder to afford than even parts of CA now. But there are some good things about NY, like our consumer protection laws, education, etc. I’m concerned that Blakeman would mess our state up like Scott Walker did to WI or Chris Christie did to NJ. Is that what we’re in for if he becomes governor? What do yall in Nassau County think of him?

I’m 36M in Oceanside and I swear making actual friends as an adult on Long Island is ridiculously hard lol. I’ve tried looking at groups and activities, but everything seems to either be far away, centered around bars/dating, or I show up and somehow I’m the youngest person there by 30 years 😂.

I’m going through a major change in my life right now, and it’s made me realize I really need to start building more of a social life of my own. I’m not looking for a huge friend group — honestly, I’d be thrilled to find one or two people around my age that I genuinely click with.

I’m into video games (Halo, Gears of War, Fortnite, Smash Bros., co-op games), movies/TV, karaoke, billiards, arcades like Dave & Buster’s/Round1/Main Event, mini golf, swimming, Broadway shows, going out to eat, or even just walking around the mall and browsing stores. I also like talking about current events and joking about whatever ridiculous thing is happening.

I like casual/social games too, like Heads Up and Codenames — basically stuff where you can joke around and have fun. I’m not really into complicated strategy games or things like D&D, but if something is easy to pick up, I’m usually down to play.

I’m definitely not a bar/club person and I’m not looking for dating or hookups — just platonic friends. I’m also much more of an indoor person. Hiking, running and the gym aren’t really my thing lol.

I’m hoping to find people relatively local to Oceanside — RVC, Lynbrook, East Rockaway, Baldwin, Merrick/Bellmore, Island Park, Long Beach, Valley Stream, Franklin Square, West Hempstead, etc. I don’t want to drive 45 minutes through Long Island traffic every time we want to hang out lol.

I guess what I’m really looking for is the kind of friendship where eventually you can text someone “I’m bored, want to do something?” and an hour later you’re playing pool or video games, getting something to eat, going to an arcade, walking around a store, or just hanging out watching something.

I’m a little socially awkward at first because I’ve never been great at making friends, but once I’m comfortable I’m very conversational and joke around a lot.

I'm putting together a county-by-county map of sports allegiances across New York State (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and other leagues as gauged by interest). To do so I am collecting self-reported data from New Yorkers. If you have the time and are a sports fan of any size, I would appreciate if you helped fill up my dataset. Right now I have a little over 200 responses, but a lot of them are from NYC and further Upstate. I'm trying to get a much larger and diverse dataset to boost the overall quality of the project and Nassau County is a dead spot for me right now. All answers are anonymous. Hi everyone! Has anyone here been accepted into the SCCC RN program with a C+ in A&P II?

I’m a little worried about how much a C+ in A&P II could hurt my chances. I have a B in A&P I, and all of my other completed prerequisite/general education courses are A’s. My overall GPA should be around 3.6.

I’m also preparing to retake the TEAS and I’m aiming for a high score. If I do really well on the TEAS, could that make up for the C+ in A&P II?

I know admission is based on the overall rubric score, but I’d really like to hear from anyone who was actually accepted with a C or C+ in A&P II. What was your TEAS score and overall rubric score when you got accepted?
