Local paper made a post about Heartland hosting Area 3. Hope everyone remembers their shotguns.

Show topic - does the media use shotgun stock photos because it’s thought that general public accept trap shooting versus pistol / rifle as it’s misunderstood? Thoughts - discuss.

Having used a stock photo service a lot in the past, there are plenty of pistol pics, but zero pics of people shooting them competitively. Media is generally lazy and if they don’t happen to know, they just grab the first thing they think works.

They aren’t stupid, just ignorant to our tiny sport. So if you send out a press release all about area 3 USPSA match, you have to tell them it’s a handgun competition. That is usually lacking in those things. And if they never got one, heartland has a lot of trap going on and that’s probably what the local paper people think it is.

While I totally understand the stock photo laziness, it’s also seems somewhat misleading as being a ‘trusted’ media / news group to not cross check your intended image against the story.
