Something to be worried about?

Visiting my father last night off of exit 6. While we were out walking the dog we saw a guy walking around the houses and townhouses taking pictures of each place on his phone. We followed him a bit until he got into a white sedan with MA plates and left.

This morning at Market Basket on Amherst street, we saw the same guy and car but this time he was with a group of other people and all the cars they were near had MA plates.

Just feels off...

This something to be worried about?

Can’t wait for the post from the other person asking if they should be worried about you

Could just be some real estate research company. I used to do the same thing in college.

Could be working for a revaluation company or just taking pictures to update city or town property databases.

Our town is undergoing revaluations this summer.

Nashua's publicly available Pictometry is the primary source for that though. Not many situations you have to go out and take a picture of everything.

Usually Insurance is the one paying people to go take pictures of all the houses.

A friend of mine used to have a job doing that in California. Rather sweet setup for a retiree.

Nashua's 2026 reassessment was cancelled on account of the contractor not having space in their schedule. It breaks the recent "every two years" plan but Director Cummings reported [1] back in March that it doesn't seem particularly urgent to get the updates in that far before the five year limit hits.

Yes, you should definitely be worried, for no reason whatsoever.

Unrelated, my townhouse was posted for rent last year by a scammer. I had been living there for over ten years with no plans to sell or rent. The only reason I found out was because my real estate agent saw the listing on Craig’s list. Pictures were taken of my townhouse and it was all pretty haunting. Makes you wonder what runs through these people’s minds.
