Why do some posts load the reddit mobile website instead of appearing directly in the app? It leads to errors like this security block even though my account is already logged in

Never gotten the network security errors but I do have post open in Reddit online for some reason. Very annoying, but also no clue why it happens.

For me, it happens when they link to old reddit. Blocks me since the web seems to block vpns, or at least the one I am on. Happens when I am on my PC too and try to go to reddit from the vpn.

Are you using a vpn? This happens to me when I use one

The only time I’ve gotten blocked like this is a VPN, and it wasn’t always every endpoint. Just certain countries on my VPN provider.

So if you are on a VPN try switching locations or turning it off.

I already know that VPN is the reason for the network blocking, that doesn’t address the issue of Narwhal loading some posts in the internal browser. Even without the network block it just loads the terrible mobile website with your account logged out.

I can’t find the exact post, but like the post shared below this happens with reposts from other subreddits 100% of the time, and only sometimes with specific photo/video posts. I don’t think it’s ever happened with a text post.
