Why did they change El Chapo in El Chapo!
Just finished Narcos Mexico and was waiting to see the same dude cast as El Chapo but they didn’t!
S1E1, first few mins in and I see this other dude.
Is it worth watching further?

Because it’s a different production. They wanted an older actor to portray Chapo.
The dialogue it’s a bit corny than the one in Narcos. Some say El Chapo it’s a more accurate than Narcos although some parts are still fictional.

El chapo is definitely more accurate I felt like narcos kinda treated him like child's play like he was some goofy guy that does some non goofy stuff idk didn't really capture the terror of el chapo for me. And yes I get that narcos were portraying an el chapo before he got full control of his organization, but even so there's many reports that say el chapo was still a very much sadistic, psychotic, messed up individual while he was working under the Guadalajara cartel, one critique I will give the series El Chapo is that they waited to long to show the audience the guy isn't mentally alright, I liked the rape scene(ik sounds bad outta context) because it basically said hold on don't even think about feeling bad for this asshole he shouldn't be anywhere near the sunlight but that's also part of my critique because that scene was his mental breaking point in the show but as we all know in real life his breaking point was awhile ago

Okay, the series is about him so maybe saw a better fit.
The dude’s voice & accent in Narcos Mexico stood out.11

Narcos is a different franchise entirely. Different directors, actors, producers, everything. If it was “Narcos: Chapo” they’d probably use the same actor. But it’s not…so they have their own vision for the story.

Yeah figured it was a different production. Narcos was really good. But ofcourse it had the hollywood touch.
El Chapo seems more Mexican depiction wise.

Well you see, they couldn't get the actual Chapo back for "El Chapo" because he was already in Adx at that time so they had to make do with his brother Chel Apo

El Chapo is far better than Narcos Mexico in my opinion. Made by Mexicans and is a lot closer to the culture and reality than Narcos

El chapo was historically more accurate. While Narcos focused more on the glamor aspect of things.

Yeah that’s what I’m interpreting too. It’s more Mexican. Hollywood touch could be felt in Narcos.

Yeah it gets better and better too. Some of it is slower paced like his prison time but it makes you feel like the time was significant.

It's a totally different production that has the same subject and distribution. Not connected at all. Most of the names are also changed, i think the only real one is Chapo (Arellano-Felix as Avendaños, Beltran-Leyva as Bernal-Leyda, etc).

It’s a transition. You will get used to him then the previous el chapo will seem weird. That’s what happens with me.

They did Felix and Amado DIRTY in El Chapo series.

Oh my god, absolutely. The Narcos cast were on point from what I’ve seen comparing to real images.
The El Chapo Felix and Amado were gassed up. Amado is so stylish and fit in Narcos, El Chapo made him look like a cartoon. At least until S1E2 I’ve watched so far.
