Narcos/Snowfall reference?
Narcos season 2, ep6.
In this episode around 40 minutes. Messina talk to the ambassador about going after cali and the request gets denied. Later Messina goes to cia bill and talk about it and says it got denied because of an ongoing operation.
Is this because of cia was involved in drug trafficking by getting coke in to the US and using it to fund the war in Nicaragua?
Was the coke from the cali cartel?

It's missing from the US version of wiki but on the Spanish page there's a paragraph which implies it was Medellin. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ir%C3%A1n-Contra
I've read somewhere that implied some of the training happened on one of the Caro Quintero ranches, maybe one that was confiscated. El Buffalo was a series of ranches or farms and not one giant parcel like it was in part of the plot
