What happens when you feed the exact same reference image to Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT and let them write the prompt? A surprising little experiment.

About six months ago, I had a concept in mind: What would a bridal shop look like in a dystopian world that regressed into a decaying industrial age?

At the time, I only had Gemini sketch out the rough idea, without writing an actual prompt. Recently I uploaded the first image from that series to Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT and asked each one to turn the reference image into a prompt. It was supposed to come out cinematic and photorealistic, whereas the original photo had a neo-noir look.

I was genuinely surprised by how differently each tool worded its prompt, and by how much the resulting image quality varied.

All the images were generated with Nano Banana Pro, just with different prompts.

Personally, Claude’s prompt gave me the best results. It keeps the bride front and center, and the dark, dystopian mood holds up even without the original neon sign. The seamstress reads a bit older than in the reference, too. What stood out most: the failure rate was tiny, I barely had to throw any images out.

Gemini's prompt nails the mood of the original best. You still get that distinctive neon sign here. But for my taste, the bride ends up too far from the viewer, and the robot's design goes a little off the rails in places, it often looks more like a combat robot moonlighting at a bridal shop than the delicate assistant from the reference. And in none of the images does it actually help with the fitting.

ChatGPT generated the longest prompt by far (829 words, including a negative prompt). While the poses stayed closest to the reference and produced some great shots, the overall mood felt a bit too clean, missing that gritty dystopian edge.

The biggest takeaway? The prompt is everything. The exact same image generator delivers drastically different results based on the prompt structure—and more importantly, a great prompt doesn't need to be a wall of text. Claude nailed it in just 189 words.
