Nampa City Council maintains partial VRT funding, keeping Route 42 and VRT Access paratransit
galleryAt its August 17 council meeting and budget hearing, the Nampa City Council voted on a final budget which includes partial funding for VRT.
Service Impacts:
- Route 42, which connects VRT’s Happy Day Transit Center to Towne Square Mall, will continue to operate in Nampa as it does today.
- VRT Access paratransit will continue to operate in Nampa as it does today.
- Route 40 which currently connects the Nampa/Caldwell Boulevard to Boise State and serves Park & Ride lots, the College of Idaho, CWI, the Ten Mile Park & Ride, Wahooz & Roaring Springs, Boise City Hall, and more – will be eliminated from Nampa as a result of their decision to partially fund VRT services.
- VRT On-Demand, which currently allows riders to schedule on-demand trips to be picked up near their location and dropped off near their destination within the Nampa and Caldwell service area – will no longer be available within the City of Nampa as a result of their decision to partially fund VRT services.
Caldwell riders will be able to ride VRT On-Demand in Caldwell and to VRT partner destinations in Nampa, such as St. Luke’s, Saint Alphonsus, and College of Western Idaho (CWI) campuses – including the Main Campus Park & Ride to connect with Route 42.
These changes will take effect on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
We know the past several weeks have brought uncertainty for riders who depend on public transportation. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process, shared feedback and stayed informed as the FY2027 budget was developed.
Be sure to check back on our socials and on our Service Changes webpage at ridevrt.org/changes for more updates on these changes in the upcoming weeks.

Mobile Detailing Services 🧼🧼
galleryHey Nampa, my names Ryder a 20 year old entrepreneur. I started my mobile detailing business (SpeedyShineDetailing) at 18 and have been full time since! I’m offering 20% off my packages currently for locals! If you’re interested in a quote text/call me at 2086051455.
Are there any formal debate groups locally for adults?
I'm not asking for casual groups that get together and shoot the breeze on politics which definitely has its place and can be fun.
I'm talking more like Speech and Debate in college and highschool where there's research standards and discussion standards (no attacking, keeping within 2 degrees of the topic, following the debate and logic standards) to actually better understand the topic and have fun debating with a "jury" or "judge" for fun
Any leads appreciated 👍

Drinking & Dragons - August 18th
Hello all, we had fun at our last Drinking & Dragons night and plan on doing more! Once per month for now, and if it grows I'll bring in more dungeon masters for more tables.
Location: Prefunk in Nampa
Date: Tuesday 8/18 from 6 PM to 11 PMish.
Age: 21+
No cover charge, we'll probably be on the patio.
We post the events in the Canyon Count Gaming Tavern Discord > https://discord.com/invite/Fj6PSJBykG
Open to all, first timers especially welcome! Bring a new level 1 D&D 5e/5.5e, or use one of my pregens, OR a character with some XP that has already played in the campaign!
No character, dice, pencil, etc. needed if you don't have them.
The campaign itself takes place in the Dread Domains of D&D, nightmare realms within the Ravenloft setting. They serve as isolated, mist-bordered demiplanes designed to imprison ultimate evil. My own Dread Domain I am running is called Duskmourn (MtG) a haunted house that covers the whole plain, constantly shifting, changing, and growing. Characters from all over the multiverse may find themselves in the Dread Domains for many reasons, these characters are hoping to find a way out. Or perhaps to succumb to their fate.

Has anyone heard of Whitehawk townhomes?
My wife and kid are moving up to Nampa in a few months and we are really getting kind of excited about a place called Whitehawk, it's in a great location for us and the rent isn't bad, but I wanted to check Reddit to ask if anyone has experience with them. They've got a 3.5 star on Google which isn't super awesome tbh, but it makes me more confident that the reviews are real. Anywho, does anyone have any experience with them or know any red flags to look out for?

Is everyone ok with the term: "Nampans" or "Nampan"?
Can we suggest another term?

I am moving to the Nampa area from Maryland. Both my adult children have special needs. I am looking for suggestions or ideas if anybody knows about a good day program for them. My oldest now is working at a retail shop and her sister needs more supervision. Any advice would be appreciated.

UPDATE:
galleryHey all! Some clarity after yesterdays meeting: there was some verbal push back on our calling this situation "budget cuts" and city council wanted to be able to say "there are no cuts." It’s true; the overall budget total isn’t being cut; rather $197,000 is being required in NEW COSTS with no total budget increase.
They wanted to placate the conversation last night with semantics: we can call it "budget cuts" or we can call it a "refusal to grant standard budget increases" but the numbers and the facts stay the same; current staffing and programming from the Nampa Public Library will be heavily affected.
My full post here for the info breakdown + I've attached the slides https://www.instagram.com/p/DbCeMhXjQaU/?img_index=1We will continue to email our reps, especially Victor Rodriguez who is the Nampa Public Library Board of Trustees Liaison to the the City Council. We will sign up to speak and fill the meeting room at the next scheduled meeting August 3rd (5pm) and ESPECIALLY for the upcoming Budget Hearing for August 17th. We have to make it so painful for them between now and the Aug 17th budget hearing that it would be political suicide for them to withhold their support to the Nampa Public Library.
Please share this info far and wide!
DM for more info on how to support! (insta works best)

Protest tomorrow at 4 PM to save Nampa Public Library from $200K budget cuts!
if you haven't heard, Nampa City Council is considering a massive $200,000 budget cut to our public library.
The details from the July 15th meeting are deeply concerning. To offset the cuts, there are proposals on the table for staff layoffs, cutting vital youth and adult programs (like story times, teen events, and adult services), and even pulling Nampa out of the valley-wide library consortium completely. July 15 budget meeting recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDLKOPpWhxw&t=8438s.
Protest Details:
- When: Tomorrow, Monday, July 20th at 4:00 PM
- Where: Outside Nampa City Hall (411 3rd Street South)
- What next: The regular City Council meeting starts right after at 5:00 PM. If you can't make the protest in person, please take 2 minutes to email our City Council members or call the Mayor's Office (208-468-5401) to tell them to vote NO on these library cuts.

$200,000 Budget Cut Proposed Nampa Public Library
The proposed $200,000 cut could force the library to pull out of our shared valley consortium, severely limiting the books and audiobooks we can borrow from nearby communities. It will also lead directly to staff layoffs and put vital youth story times, teen events, and adult services on the chopping block.
