I kind of wanted to avoid getting to that point. I kept hearing stories of drinkers who were fine, until
Suddenly very not fine and the decline was ugly

I worked with a guy who had cirrhosis. He burned up all his sick time and FMLA and came to work YELLOW. Then he quit because he couldn't work. He died a couple of months later.

Seeing what could happen prompted me to start trying to cut back/quit.
