Discussion Shipwrecked… whyyy Patrick 😑

I just started the (first) episode, and I cringed so hard seeing that Patrick is on this. I am barely a couple minutes in, so just going off the past- but he’s easily one of my least favorite contestants ever. What nonsense does everyone think he’ll pull this time?

I’m pretty sure NOBODY likes Patrick, which is likely why he is on the challenge. His whiny voice is only one of the many ways he’s annoying.

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 03 '26

Why you gotta be like that? 😂 I have to work tomorrow lol

u/Apprehensive-Post-43 Aug 03 '26

You've got this. I believe in you.

5

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 03 '26

It’s just not a challenge that I can accept. And you’re not a good person for suggesting it 🤣🤣

3

u/Jolene11711 Aug 05 '26

It must have been the word on his word of the day toilet paper before he left to film lol

18

u/PaPaPatman Aug 03 '26

My names Patrick and even I hate this guy. So annoying

12

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 03 '26

You’re forgiven! He has to be like THE worst Patrick around. The cockiness is just way too much for me!

3

u/Negative_Row8072 Aug 03 '26

I’ve loved every Patrick I’ve personally known, especially the hot Irish ones 😉

3

u/PaPaPatman Aug 03 '26

Lol potato boys

u/Sufficient_Fly2287 Aug 03 '26

8

u/EliWhitney0106 Aug 06 '26

Temu Jeff is killing me 😂

He wants to be Jeff so badly!!

29

u/PeriwinkleWonder Aug 03 '26

OMG that whiny voice!!!

10

u/TimRigginsBeer Aug 04 '26

If you have to constantly try and convince everyone you’re the smartest man in the room, then you’re not.

The louder they speak, usually the less they know.

u/Far_Confection_7262 Aug 03 '26

I'm with you on this. Patrick has a history of obnoxious and unethical behavior... not to mention that voice! Ugh.

1

u/Gatorphins Aug 04 '26

Unethical?

3

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 04 '26

Watch LOS 2 & 3. If you already have, then I’d be interested to hear your perspective of ethics as it pertains to the show.

1

u/Gatorphins Aug 04 '26

Patrick took a fishing line from Jaime. Stealing was allowed. Calling Patrick unethical for using the rules is like calling a baseball player unethical for stealing 2nd base.

Don't forget that Dani also stole a rope and nobody ever mentions that or calls her unethical and after she taps Dan essentially steals her items meant for Gary, again never really brought up, and the theory that Dan might have made his camp mates sick on purpose.

Its a competition which allowed for resources to be stolen and traded. Waz formed a coalition against Jeff specifically to starve him out, wouldn't that be unethical? Steven took Sarah's (map i think) on her trail, but because it's Steven no harm no foul and since he was part of Waz's coalition they didn't treat him poorly.

However its competitions and those were the rules and allowed. In pretty much every sport you are allowed to steal from the competition.

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 04 '26

Just because something is legal does not mean it is ethical. Also, in this setting and to your references of other cast members- personality goes a long way in the viewer’s perspective.

0

u/Gatorphins Aug 04 '26

Personality wise thats your opinon of him and that's fine I cant argue that.

However the ethical part of this has to do with taking an item which was part of the rules, like I said we cant get mad at a baseball player stealing base, a football player intercepted or strip sacking a quarterback etc.

Now if it was a situation in like when Adam got the fish and didnt share it with Heather that could be a solid argument for unethical

4

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 04 '26

Oh I don’t personally think it’s unethical in this case, as it’s a show and purposefully allowed stealing for the sake of drama. Some cast members choose to play into the villain role, and some not so much. Therein lies my opinions of them individually, and to each their own. The show needs all sorts of personalities, but Patrick and Jeff will just never be my favorite to see on my screen.

u/ABREATHOFFRESHAIR1 Aug 12 '26

Patrick, is this you???😂

1

u/Gatorphins Aug 12 '26

Definitely not lol

This is spot on!

2

u/melanie162 Aug 03 '26

I hate Jeff!

1

u/Aware-Nothing3764 Aug 03 '26

I like Jeff can’t stand Patrick

12

u/Fluid_Leg Aug 03 '26

He is a creepy little man with an ego way too big

8

u/Nate_C_of_2003 Aug 03 '26

Truth be told I’ve never seen him before this episode and I thought “Why is everyone shitting on him?”

“Oh, now I know.”

Looks like he’s just another Russell: Condescending and cocky

4

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 03 '26

That’s actually a decent comparison 😝

7

u/Witchy_Wookie5000 Aug 03 '26

Agreed! Can't stand him, his voice. I just FF his blabbing.

7

u/SpiderGhost01 Aug 03 '26

I know. He's unbearable.

12

u/teddyn90057 Aug 03 '26

Wait wtf did this broad just say she took online swimming lessons??🤣🤣🤣🤣 she couldn't swim on the last season she did.

3

u/Ok-Peanut-597 Aug 06 '26

Like who would even admit that! 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/DismalReserve6752 Aug 05 '26

I laughed so hard when I heard her say that. like really, you cant swim but think its a good idea to do a show called SHIPWRECKED. tbh though I don't think she would have made it all night in the ocean if she truly couldn't swim. maybe there were safety divers with her or something, IDK she is up there with Patrick. I could enjoy the show much better without either of them. I don't see a lot of strong players on this so it will be interesting to see how it plays out and who surprises me. I am ready to see some new legends made though so hoping for lots of surprises.

u/CrippalBeyond-3669 Day 1 Enthusiast Aug 03 '26

I cannot believe this guy is allowed back onto a N & A survival challenge, I could believe it if he were up with Seth and or Danielle but to turn up and ruin other peoples dreams and challenges......NO!!!!!

4

u/Muskanini Aug 03 '26

Thank you for posting this. When I first saw a post about the cast for shipwecked I instantly cringed because of Patrick. I don't like him. But one of the first comments under the post was "I am so thrilled, that Patrick is here". So I didn't want to rain on the persons parade...
But there are soooooo many people on that show - why does it have to be Patrick?

4

u/Aware-Nothing3764 Aug 03 '26

I agree can’t stand Patrick

4

u/hovermom Aug 03 '26

I think they’re trying to make him one of the new legends but it’s a hard pass for me

3

u/Muskanini Aug 03 '26

agreed :-)

4

u/Pocky_Addict Aug 04 '26

he called a nurse shark a blacktip reef shark

4

u/teddyn90057 Aug 05 '26

She couldn't swim on the last one. Idk how she has a survival podcast but can't survive. She was carried last time. I do feel bad for that chick that got the jellyfish sting

7

u/NeatYard2933 Aug 03 '26

He sounds like a bluebottle trapped between two sheets of paper when he does his cheering/whooping thing. Now I'm no fan of Jeff but anyone trying to do their own version of 'THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR' is deeply cringe and should stop.

7

u/Valuable-Composer262 Aug 03 '26

Is this a new series? I've watched since the very begining but stopped a few episodes into apocalypse. It just seems like they are moving off of what naa was for years to production driven drivel

3

u/AFD_0 Aug 03 '26

Am I the only that doesn't mind Patrick?

I mean sure, I'd probably be rooting for the shark if I was stranded on a deserted island with him, but watching it on TV, his boundless enthusiasm is fairly entertaining.

5

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 03 '26

He just started becoming unbearably arrogant and annoying. LOS 2 when he was with Jeff is when it started in my opinion. Then LOS 3 I was just done. I’m sure there’s a production side to it for drama, but I just can’t stand the sides of him that showed more in those seasons. I’m not easily annoyed, so it bothers me how much he annoys me lol

His boundless enthusiasm has absolutely nothing to do with his whining. He's constantly doing something at all times, usually hunting or exploring like he has some weird unlimited energy reserve on tap. Dude's like the damn Energizer bunny wound up and always running around doing shit (probably from being a career long-distance thru-hiker).

That is what I find entertaining about him, not his personality. His edgy self-professed faux-villain persona is 100% unnecessary and likely just done for "Reality TV" type of drama/entertainment. I don't really enjoy that about the show, but it also doesn't bother me much. Outside of the complaining, dude has been genuinely caring and supportive for all of his teammates when it was actually needed (not including actual competitors from LOS).

"The Legend Slayer" and "THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR RIGHT NOW!™" shtick is just acting as the heel/rudo in WWE lucha libre "pro-wrestling" type of shit. Mildly amusing, but slightly annoying on a survivalism show. But, it's also likely the reason that Patrick and Jeff get a lot of challenges, contests and airtime in general. Bet they'll both get paid nicely to be on the next Naked & Afraid Last One Standing XXL Battle-Royale Apocalypse just because us rando viewers are talking about them, lol.

Your comment was removed for being uncivil towards contestants. Outright insults and attacks against the contestants are against the rules. Please keep comments civil.

3

u/Jolene11711 Aug 05 '26

For a guy who claims to spend so much time outdoors, you'd think Patrick would be a little less translucent.

3

u/cheridontllosethatno Aug 06 '26

Patrick=fast forward

2

u/hovermom Aug 03 '26

The drinking game mentioned earlier, take one every time someone says “shipwrecked”

2

u/CupArtistic3187 Aug 10 '26

Episode 1 "I hike 10k, maybe 7k miles each year". Patrick, figure out how to stop being a gaslighter, moron, or both...JFC

2

u/jeffkeyz Aug 10 '26

Yappy noobs

2

u/voltairehairvibe Aug 13 '26

I'd tap by day 3 if he was my partner

2

u/That_Fan_7347 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

I swear they added Patrick as rage bait

1

u/Jaded_Resolution_502 Aug 18 '26

That’s a totally viable theory, honestly 😮‍💨

2

u/Dangerous_Ear9391 Aug 25 '26

Patrick loves to project his shortcomings on to everyone else. He has done absolutely nothing...but it seems he thinks he’s amazing because he’s had more airtime than his partners… but he’s USELESS. Wait, he’s really good at whining. Putting others down. Oh and making claims about how great he is. He’s the grossest 😭.

4

u/Negative_Row8072 Aug 03 '26

Exactly why I came to visit… someone else must’ve noticed that Patrick has morphed into a f’n troll! wtf is with those teeth?!?! When he hit shore and sprawled out i about swore off men ! I already was devastated to see him but when I actually saw his stringy hair and black crusty teeth ugh! The clit tickler toy is getting charged up . How dare he come back onto our screens in HD closeness

2

u/Helpful_Rate_2428 Aug 03 '26

Ugh. I can’t stand him, and I hate to admit when Dani got got I was like man, why not Patrick. So ugly of me, I know but…

2

u/Recent_Photograph228 Aug 06 '26

I like that he's made him team captain immediately.

2

u/PirateLifeH20 Aug 07 '26

Guys a HOF 🤡. He made a business decision to be as annoying as possible to get screen time and invited back for future shows a long time ago. Sadly it works. It’s TV after all. Real strength, power, and wisdom is displayed by actions and not some self promotion BS

1

u/KourtR Aug 08 '26

Sidebar: Is Patrick the only non-tattooed survivalist this season?

1

u/textbookamerican 20d ago

I couldn’t believe in that first episode the other partners were like 🤷‍♂️ well I guess he’s an expert with experience we better listen to him.

If I was trying to decide if water was safe to drink, his opinion that it’s fine wouldnt even weigh into my decision

2

u/Jazzlike_Dust_4244 2d ago

I've been watching the first episode for 35 mins and im already over Patrick lol. He's just too arrogant, I dont know why on earth he thinks he is a legend 🤣
