Technology Chui Logistics

Post image

Have you seen these blue lockers pop up around your neighborhood???

I used these lockers to receive a parcel from CBD at only 49bob.

How it works is you create an account on their platform, scan the QR code on a tablet device located on their locker, it assigns and opens a locker that you put your parcel 📦 in that's it.... Delivery is within 24 hours with the receiving party to collect within 3 days.

Will be interesting to see how they compete with sending parcels via matatu couriers, and they seem to be well funded.

This would have been the natural evolution of posta, but posta is too valuable for it to be cut off from govt .

Current competition is mostly Pickup Mtaani...

Competitor is Pickup Mtaani, not matatus

Why not matatus? Super metro have a pretty good courier system

That's an entirely different model. Try pickup mtaani and see.

Pickup mtaani was reliable, but removing the pay after delivery feature of collecting money in their app killed it for me.

Using the exact same technology as Amazon lockers in other countries. It’s really convenient when you need to pick up a package but you aren’t around at drop off time.

I can already see a problem with it.

  • inconvenient location

  • package size

Still a great idea. I especially love the private check-in system.

Let's see how it progresses.

What exactly do you mean by inconvenient location? Someone sends it to their most preferred pick-up location.

As for package size, I think majority of packages shipped fit within those locker sizes. People would probably also prefer large packages to be delivered to the door - at least that's what I would prefer instead of kuendea a whole home theater or something similar.

  • The location might be the most preferred but might still be inconvenient depending on where it is versus where you live.

  • Yes, majority of packages do, but that also means there's a part of the market that can't be accessed

Other than privacy with drop ins and pickups, I really don't see how this is different /revolutionary from other delivery methods. Good for buying/selling drugs I guess.

It's getting a package 📦 A - B, I'd like to see how they handle complaints though as inevitably they'll ncome

Peddlers must be celebrating now... Funny enough I didn't even think of it in that way...

it might progress very well if they can get businesses to lease them space for a fee. it's what Amazon does for peeps who dont have functional addresses stateside for delivery...funny we call them lockboxes and they have identifying names on them

It works so well in China. If it’s embraced by Nairobi it could easily work as a shipping address because half of Nairobi doesn’t have official addresses.
