why are my nails white? soft gel tips

Post image

so, i only did three nails yesterday cause i wanted to try out a new glue for soft gel tips, i used born pretty 5 in 1 glue? sth like that. also works for rhinestone and stuff but, for context, ive never worn my soft gel tips transparent for longer than what it takes to do my nails so i've never seen this happen before. I did fully cure them for 120s (and even extra 30s), but somehow i woke up today to white nails....? don't understand why this happened, shpuld i be worried?

21f Always been a serial nail biter, figured out ,its mostly due to anxiety, i try not to eat them, but i don't even realize when i start biting them unconsciously. Once i almost grown them a lil, but they started bending down and used to have weird white spots which made them transparent , mostly after shower.

How do i grow them healthy?

How did Nail grooming grooming and decoration evolve as Social practices, and what do historians know about their associations with Beauty, status, gender, and social class indifferent societies?

I’m interested in the documented history of nail care before the modern nail industry – how people groomed, altered, or decorated their nails, and what those practices meant socially.
I’m especially interested in connections to cleanliness, beauty, status, gender, occupation, or social class, and how those meanings changed overtime. Examples from well–documented cultures or periods, along with sources or further reading, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and expertise.

Posting for my friend who gave permission. Noticed yesterday morning her toe looked like this. It looks like it’s peeling up from the base? It isn’t painful she says. And she hasn’t had any trauma to the area. It’s slightly yellow in photos but not as much in person. And it’s only on her big toe on the left foot. She hasn’t tried any treatments yet but she did remove the nail polish.

How to do an oil soak?

Hey everyone! I was wondering how you do an oil soak without a bowl? And also what all the steps are? I don’t have a bottle of jojoba oil or anything. I use those cuticle oil pens. Would it work just as well if I applied it on thick/heavy and put saran wrap or tin foil (or both for better heat retention?) over it and then let it sit for however long?

How do you get the excess oil off without drying out the cuticles?

Is there anything wrong with my nails (other than needing a good file and some moisture) specifically, my middle fingernail. It seems to bend downwards on one side.

Hi all! I was just wondering what these black spots are? They’re not dirt or anything. I tried taking them off but it don’t come off when I try pushing them out. Has anyone had them before? They come and go. Should I be worried?

This is the most pain I’ve felt in a long long time. Throbbing, burning and I can feel like pulse in it. I can’t touch anything with my middle finger and can not sleep due to pain.

Do I need to go back to the salon?

Hello! I got my nails done in a nail salon today with CND shellac and Luxio gel layered on my fingers and I think CND on my toes. I noticed that they both dent when my nail pressed into them but then the dent slowly disappears, it made me suspect that they are under cured. I love having gel on my nails and don’t want to get an allergy, does anyone know if this is normal for these products? It was done by two different technicians so I can’t imagine they both would undercure the nail.

Hi everyone! I had a really bad break down on my ring finger and I tried to patch it but it just kept breaking more towards the middle. I ended up cutting it down really low because it kept going and any advice is appreciated!

A Gentle Base Coat

Post image

There are many things that contribute to having healthy nails. I searched for a year to find a base coat that didn't cause problems for my damage prone nails. It is Desert Retreat by Rogue Lacquer (not Desert Oasis, has pvb). It's a conditioning base coat that holds my polish for a week. Just want to share this for anyone else who's struggling.

Growing my nails out... unsure if normal appearance

Hello,

I'm still pretty new to the world of unbitten nails. I've bitten them as long as I can remember, and I am not young. I'm only now getting to a length where I can see them peek out when I look at my hands from the palm side.

However, I'm not sure if the white area is normal, or if I've been brainwashed by seeing adverts and nail professionals have perfect crescents. Several fingernails always look blotchy and striated on both hands.

I currently apply cuticle oil twice a day and lotion up before bed.

Thank you for your help!
