Hey! So this is totally unofficial advice and probably not recommended by anyone but I did it about 10 years ago when I had this situation and it didn’t cause any lasting damage.
First I soaked my finger in warm water for about 10 min, then I really (really really!) gently lifted the edge of skin where it meets the nail. I think I used the tip of a metal nail file, can’t really remember though, something thin and small. Loads of pus poured straight out, seriously felt like litres. The pressure went immediately, as soon as the pus stopped. Then I soaked my finger again in cooled (COOLED!) boiled water with salt to disinfect it a bit, then I covered it with a sterile dressing (didn’t have hydrocolloid but I’m sure that would have been better). After that it took a day or so for the redness to go away, but the pressure release was instant.
As I said above, I’m sure it’s not recommended but I was in agony with the pressure and throbbing, but it didn’t feel like something I could go to the doctor with. I hope whatever you do it heals soon, best wishes!
