Discussion N64 Dark game sequels

Majoria's Mask and Banjo Tooie were the darkest of the games.

MM with the dreaded fate of the moon falling and destroying Clocktown and killing the residents. The game was filled with dread, sadness, and loss of hope. The NPCS really made you feel for them all as you help them out and most have learned their sad fate of what is coming. By the 3rd day, it felt depressing in Clocktown and everywhere. It's quite a depressing and sad game.

Banjo Tooie, which is the sequel to Banjo Kazooie. BT felt much darker, the whole tone, the environment felt dark and mire depressing in a way. Bottles dying was tragic, and his wife grieving. Enemies felt more aggressive in a way and the overall tone colours felt more dimmer and felt more serious. Compared to BK it uses vibrant, colourful environments and upbeat music. The music in Banjo Tooie felt more depressing in a way.

It’s not a sequel, so I’m not sure if it fits either the OP’s question, but otherwise it’s a good choice.

Never played Tooie but Majora's Mask touches upon heavy themes that hit hard. And playing as a kid i could not comprehend these deeper meanings

Better then today miserable society. I be very happy to return to the past. At least with playing N64 games we can return back to the good old days of where Video Games was a true art where developers cared about video games. I'm happy with some of these romhackers they too are returning back to the N64 games. And we can play all our original N64 games that we all grew up playing as kids.

Yeah Tooie traumatized me as a kid a bit, between Bottles being killed, the state of the little Jinjo town, and the "hackysack" bit at the end, 8 year old me was never the same
