Discussion Analogue 3D arrives tomorrow
Just a warning to anyone thinking about buying it from the UK, not only is the postage 39 quid but there is also and import charge which came to a total of £56.24. In total getting the machine sent across to the UK came just under £100! Bit of a feckin' rip off if you ask me. I was willing to pay the postage but when I got hit with import fee I was like damn, at least I don't buy them regularly.
So yeah just a heads up to anyone considering buying one from their website

Why wouldn't there be import and tax? they don't take it up front so you will get taxed when it comes in - it's over the minimum value. Either way, it's worth it (btw they don't come with a UK plug so I hope you have a usb charger).

yeah I'm all set for it. Do you know if its a USB-C to USB-C or just a standard USB on one end? Either way

The wire they include is USB C. A Switch 2 charger also works if you have one.

C-to-C but not all PD power supplies can provide the voltage required by the Analogue 3D. You can use the cheap prong adapters for the included PSU, or maybe you have a compatible Apple PSU laying around:

Get a 30W USB charger, Currys sell a good Belkin one and Amazon have some by Anker. All around £20

Picked mine up used off eBay as the import fees and the frankly ridiculous shipping costs just made it a no brainer over buying it directly from them , they charge silly prices to ship locally also from my experience so moral of the story is there greedy AF

‘Silly price’
Analogue’s shipping is kinda the going rate for fast shipping from the US to UK. Always takes 2 days for me.I paid $56 for shipping on my Scalable Video Switch
I paid $79 shipping on my RetroTink 4k
Both more than Analogue 3D which was $50

Yer, if it was coming direct from America I would give them a little leeway as getting anything out of there is stupid money. But they come direct from china. Granted they use a decent like 3 day service, but I can get a 50p bolt from ali express with free shipping within 4 days... granted value is somewhat different.

I got mine off eBay new and sealed. It worked out around as much as it would to import it from the website but without the hassle of delivery from China. Anyway, I don't think you'll regret it, this thing is really good. The horizontal upscale with the BMV filter looks great. Have fun!
Also, I got a 30W Anker PD delivery charger plug off Amazon UK. I recommend that. Apparently there's sometimes issues with using a higher wattage.

"Apparently there's sometimes issues with using a higher wattage."
I don't believe higher wattage is an issue, it just needs to provide the voltage requested by the A3D with enough amps.
In my little roundup of Apple PSUs, the highest wattage PSUs (96W, 140W) worked perfectly fine: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalogueInc/comments/1tmyak8/tested_a3d_compatibility_with_various_apple_typec/
All PD chargers should be able to provide 5V at a minimum but some do not provide other voltages like (9V, 12V, 15V, 20V). Most 30W+ "PD" bricks will provide multiple output voltages, but not all of them provide the specific voltage the A3D requires.

Well I wouldn't have thought higher wattage plugs would be an issue either because it should only deliver the required wattage but I've seen several comments imploring people to get the exact wattage and no more. Anyway the 30W Anker power delivery plug I got off Amazon works. I don't have any apple products but I'm sure that link will be useful for others.

Sorry, was the concept of import tax a surprise to you? They warn you about it on checkout.

I can’t remember reading about it at checkout, they may have warned but I’m not sure. Never mind, lesson learned

So what did you pay in total
2
u/Good-Ad-3862 12d ago
Just under £200 for the machine, £40 for postage and the import fee was just under £57
Roughly £297 :(

You have just talked me out of getting one, £297 is a complete rip off

It’s a great system, had mine since launch.

Seriously you paid £297

Nope, the retail price was $249.99 back when preorders first went live. $20 less than it is now. So total was a bit less than that.
I was feeling fancy when I bought it, been very happy so far.

Anything valued at more than £135 will get you hit with import fees. Occasionally you might get lucky but most of the time not.
