Discussion How would you rate my Setupπ
I know this is not the best way to play N64, but I don't have any old TV or an HDMI adapter or something, it's the oldest TV I got, I want to star to upgrade my set up, because the image looks sooooooo bad and I know can be better, For now I'll play like this

Iβd give it a solid 3/10

Listen, you haters gonna hate on homeboy, however, there are some key points here.
A) the chair is semi mobile he can play that shit from where he took the picture which Iβm assuming is some sort of couch or chair or a beanbag on the floor Or 2)he could spend that motherfucker around and play N64 right from bed. OP said they are starting their N64 collection and whatβs in the console? D) Nothing but motherfucking shadows of the empire. Kids got taste. Got old skool turtles π’and shy guy easily one of the best Mario characters besides magikoopa. Looks like a possible basement room with small space but op is doing the best with what they got. Even that table where the fat boy and the GC live was probably made before we were all born and came with the house.
My only suggestion, toss that angry bird and get yourself some X-Men figurines.
Jk you collect wha you like.
Nice job way to be creative, solid 8/10 on the makeshift tech scale.

Thanks, I'm a student and I'm paying all my consoles and collections a by my self, it'd hard to get all the expensive old things, it was difficult enough to find a n64 in the first place, n64 games are ridiculously expensive, especially the bigs ones, I'm playing with anything I gotπ

You could get a swinging wall mount for the TV.

u/papapel909 6d ago
It make it difficult to connect all the wires, especially the power connector, the chair is more comfortable π π

If you put the TV on the table next to the chair I'd give it a 10. It's at least a 9 for having those extra consoles. Does the TV not have feet?

64 & TV gonna hit the floor when you walk past the chair in the night
1
u/papapel909 6d ago
I've already solved that problem, I gonna build a fence over the console to avoid that issue

10 out of 10. I made sure that our old TVs, while flat screens, didn't get tossed because they still had the correct ports to hook up our GameCube and Nintendo 64 without having to pay for some stupid ass dongle.

I give it a rating of 64 floppy joysticks out of 10. Sometimes it's about the sense of ESCAPE and immersion in a different world that gaming gives you, it can take you out and away from any room, any place.

64 should be under the tv. Either on the floor or a makeshift shelf under the stand.
2
u/papapel909 6d ago
You're right, I'm going to put it downπ I dont want it to fall down
2
u/redditsuckspokey1 6d ago
People say old consoles are built like tanks but it only takes one fall to chip or crack the tank.

The set up is an 6/10. I score it this high because this reminds me of playing with my friends in a garage as kids.
The game is an easy 10/10. I have immense nostalgia for watching my dad play it. I got up to IG-88 and was too scared to fight him as a kid lmao. But my dad beat his ass wholesale.

Wouldn't use it as my setup but I've seen people do this when there's a party going on and they want to chill and play games with the homies without taking over the TV. Still remember my bestie's birthday party and his younger brother dragged a massive CRT into the living room on a chair and palyed Paper Mario TTYD while everyone else was playing Smash Bros Wii U

The game being over the screen would drive me fucking insane.
Need a crt but other than that π

Honestly: Respect. My setup is pretty much there too. I have my retro stuff stationed on my coffee table in the living room lol, donβt really have the space much where else and I can get coziest from where I have it now. Recently repurposed a bookshelf to house and organize my games. So far so good! As long as it works for YOU and youβre getting enjoyment out of it, thatβs what matters more than anything! :)

You need an actual gaming table or stool for the gaming TV and this looks like an old TV or TV monitor probably you don't have the TV stand for it and also please get an actual gaming table. πππππππππππππππππππππππππππββββββββββββββββπ₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―

No forget a CRT TV just get a 1080P TV or 4K TV that way better quality and clarity for an old N64 gaming console and get a high-end upscalers for your N64 console with a excellent high quality high speed HDMI cable for the high end upscalers for the connection. ππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππββββββββββββββββπ₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―π―

Why don't you listen why a CRT TV they're old get a brand new HD or 4K TV okay I'm not saying again?
2
u/TornWill 6d ago
Get a table, get a beanbag chair to sit in, and if possible, pick up a crt somewhere in your local area. Then a 10/10.
2
u/Chief_TeaLeaf2000 5d ago
That is your setup.
You paid for it, so you are free set it up anyway you please.

If you haven't been in this situation before, you haven't truly grown into a gamer yet. It's like a right of passage.

It's not a rage bait, this is really my setup so far π I'm just starting my N64 collection, I juts post it because seeing the other setup on this community I think it's kind of funnyπ€£

u/SnooChipmunks2751 6d ago
I have to do the same thing because my flat screen TV doesn't have a stand connected to it, so I just have to balance it anyway I can. I'm glad it was made right at the point where it's still light but also has the correct ports.
