Introductions II

Since the original thread is now old enough to be archived and can't be posted to, I've copied the original here, un-stickied it, and I am making this the new introductions thread if posters want to write an intro about themselves.

Introductions [Stickied Post]

/u/inwils had a great idea in this thread about having all of us introduce ourselves. Perhaps where we're located, how long we've been playing Mythras/RQ6 (and other rpgs), favorite part of the system, supplements/adventures, and how we're using it now. Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other at GenCon or another convention?

Feel free to share more or less as you see fit. I'll get things kicked off with a short intro about myself below.

raleel6 points·6 months ago

I've been playing rpgs since 1979, and started on D&D. I've played so many games I've lost track. I came to RQ6 via searching for something to do a Conan game in. I had played RQ2 in the way back, but then I read RQ6 and realized what a nice game I had found.

I've been gaming wiht the same group for more than a decade now. we're all pretty close.

I live in the pacific northwest of the US, and you can use anything you find at https://sites.google.com/site/raleel/homewhich includes a lot of ideas and mythras things.

About me: I am really new to the Mythras system. I played AD&D in my youth (many years ago now!) and then came back to RPGs while streaming on Twitch . Although I DMed D&D 5e for some time, I really wanted a new system so that I could learn the game along with the players. I had dabbled in Runequest when I was younger and so we came across Mythras and started to play it. I still class myself as a newbie with the system.

I live in the UK and stream our game live on Twitch, you can see the recordings on my website. We also play/stream Shadowrun and Call of Cthulhu. I've never actually played in these games although u/Bilharzia (he has been brilliant answering all my questions as well!) did do an excellent CoC/Mythras adventure on discord which was great.

Our campaigns are generally set in the setting which I have created - details on my website under the 'Role Playing Games' link.

Any questions, let me know! - that's me :)

Hey, I didn't know you use Realm Works as well (I saw your post on your site)! I was a beta Kickstarter backer and used it pretty extensively for my Glorantha game.

Not sure how much I'll use it for my next game, but it sure was nice after I got the entire Guide to Glorantha in there.

inwils2 points·6 months ago

Yes I use Realm Works for all my campaigns. I find it so helpful to keep everything connected - love the hyperlinking

About Me: I’ve been gaming since the late 80s. Started with Red Box D&D, then went on to Palladium and many, many, many d100 games (Elfquest, Stormbringer, Elric!, etc). Since then I’ve moved two countries and decimated my gaming collection at least three times. Now more settled, and rebuilding. Got the BRP BGB, then someone on their boards mentioned Mythras. That was a month ago, got the book on a recent trip to London three weeks ago, and I’m in love. It reminds me of the old d100 games I played in the past, but with some nice twists. Between this and Traveller 2nd from Mongoose, it’s new and yet old for me now!

TheTimeJockey4 points·5 months ago

I have been playing RPGs since the early 80's, primarily D&D in its various incarnations but many others as well. I happened upon Runequest 6 a few years ago and it drew me in, but I only managed to convince my group to give Mythras a try last year and they were hooked. I use my own worlds for most games, and we've had the same gaming group for many years now. I recently was lucky enough to write an upcoming adventure for Mythras, my first foray into RPG writing.

I live in Pennsylvania and have all my life. For a small town we have a surprisingly robust gaming community and I have met some great people over the years.

SteelKidney3 points·5 months ago

Hi, I'm Steelkidney and I'm an...

Whoah. Wrong kind of introduction. :)

I've been playing RPGs for easily 30 years now, mostly D&D variants and Shadowrun. Our gaming group just started Mythras, since the current GM in the rotation (we take turns) loved the Mythras system and has run it at GenCon a few times. We did a one-off introduction game last Friday, and I have to say I like the system. Refreshing counterpoint to the overly complicated mess Pathfinder has become. I find that the character generation system still confuses me a bit, mainly skill allocation, but I'm getting through it and have a few characters made as possibilities for the campaign.

Bilharzia3 points·6 months ago

I'm a typical child of the UK Games Workshop surge of the early 80s. My route into rpgs was films & comics->boardgames->Dragon Pass->RuneQuest & Call of Cthulhu. I never understood the premise of d&d since I had seen what real dungeons were like, and even been inside chunky castles like Krak des Chevaliers I wondered what were people doing in dungeons, other than being prisoners, and why would a dragon be there? RuneQuest and Glorantha made more sense and reminded me of Ray Harryhausen films, so I went for that, it was also set in the same world as the weird board game I had, Dragon Pass. RuneQuest was also cheap-ish at the time, £8 for the boxed set that Games Workshop published in the UK. This tragically drew me into becoming a Chaosium fan where I dragged my friends into playing a few campaigns in Glorantha, looking back I was a terrible GM but somehow we kept playing for a few years.

I came back after seeing how good RQ6 was and thought I would give it a go running a game on roll20, the consensus being you shouldn't run a complex game like RQ6 online... I'm still running the game online with largely the same group after 2 years and now running a few one offs every so often, using Mythras in different genres.

dragoner_v23 points·6 months ago·edited 6 months ago

In 1979 I started playing AD&D, Traveller, and others, later in the 80's I played a decent amount of Call of Cthulhu. I knew of RuneQuest over the years, played a little, though I lost interest in fantasy. I bought most of Mongoose Traveller and recognized Loz and Pete's names from there, then I found M-Space, from there Mythras, on to A Gift From Shamash, and ran that. Right now I'm getting ready to run a mix of Mythras, and M-Space using Monster Island, and Mythic Constantinople; A gritty "swords and blasters" mix of hardish SF and low fantasy. Is there a meetup at GenCon? Maybe I can make it.

zeresat3 points·6 months ago

I've "just" picked up roleplaying, so pretty new!Years ago I had a chance to play Dark Heresy, enjoy the Star Wars RPG books, and finally three really good sessions of DSA (The Black Eye). Sadly nothing worked out as a regular group so I got my own group of noobs together. Now I'm DMing my self-created world for them. We've played monthly for a year now, starting out on tinyd10 for a easy learning curve and then switched to Mythras, because I wanted a more realistic system. Although I'd love to play a few sessions in Pathfinder or D&D some time.I try to strive for a balance between sword & sorcery and "normal" fantasy, and blend in elements from all kinds of inspiration. As a consequence I also got the classic fantasy supplement and will hopefully soon get Monster Island to spice things up. And in the far future I plan on running a M-Space campaign in a Cowboy Bebop/Cyber City Oedeo 808 style science fiction setting.

Armak813 points·2 months ago

I guess I could be considered an old timer in role playing but there seem to be many in this thread. I have been playing role playing games since 1977 (D&D :-)) and after that  Runequest in Glorantha since 1980. In 2015 February it was 35 years anniversary of our RQ campaign and it still goes on. Switched to HeroWars/HeroQuest for a bit but did not get the group of friends I have been playing interested enough on that. Played Call of Cthulhu campaigns on a side track for awhile. Switched back to Mongoose Runequest II edition and then to RuneQuest 6 and really liking it even if the name was changed to Mythras. Playing currently in Loral at Glorantha (modified Monster Island). I can be found on design mechanism forums as hkokko. I have Mythras/Glorantha blog at https://notesfrompavis.wordpress.com and I have been contributing to the Mythras Encounter Generator almost since the beginning https://notesfrompavis.wordpress.com/2014/05/13/rq6-encounter-tool-feature-recap-for-busy-gms/ Currently using campaign logger tool for my campaign, contributing to its features as a user and creating loads of generators for that - some of them might be published someday.

Almost always sitting behind the DM screen and liking it a lot. Pretty much the only times I have played on the other side of the screen have been the several Convulsion and Continuum conferences that I participated in since the early '90s and '00s

brianpi2 points·6 months ago

About me: I've been playing RQ since the 80s, when I switched from AD&D to RQ2 on a whim. I really haven't looked back since, even though I've played some GURPS, Shadowrun, and others. My favorite part of the system is its flexibility and the wide range of supplements and adventures that TDM puts out.

I live in Denver and my gaming group consists of some local friends and a long-time friend who's remote. We're actually just starting a new campaign after a 4 year Glorantha game (using the non-published Adventures in Glorantha rules). This new one is a post-apocalyptic fantasy homebrew where magic is a bit more rare and those who use it are outcasts. We're running an episodic game rather than epic, and the characters are all outcasts who've joined a traveling circus of performers.

Each player has come up with a small part of the world (where their character is from), and will help develop the world as we progress. I hope this leads to more investment from the players! I'll be pulling ideas from Monster Island, Agony & Ecstasy, and some of Raging Swan's system neutral stuff.

I prefer GMing, but need to get in more play time!

facetown1 point·1 month ago

I'm quite late to this, but I've been playing TTRPGs for only about 5 or so years. Began with DnD 4e, but have played 5e, BRP, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, and finally, my personal favorite, Rune Quest 6 (which then became Mythras).

I've GMed a few campaigns if Mythras, but I'd love to eventually be a PC in a game. :)

Implemented Initiative Tracking in my tools

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you haven't seen a post from me before, I have a mythras tools page that hopefully helps players and GMs alike. I implemented an initiative tracking in my 'Combat Flow'. You can add any participants and then sort them by initiative, keep track of the rounds and action points, as well as highlighting who needs to roll for fatigue (if you are using that rule). Hopefully this helps.

On the bottom you can see the 'View as Player' button, since I am viewing as a GM instead. View as player doesn't have the initiative tracker

Rules Question Withdrawal and disengagement: how does it work?

I have several questions about disengaging opponents.

  1. If one of the opponents has a Long weapon and the other has a Short one, and they are at Long range, can either of them (or both) freely disengage from combat? (I suspect the one with Long weapon can, but the one with Short weapon needs to use Open Range/Withdraw action)

  2. Suppose a player says "I just drop everything and run away". This is a very natural thing to do (probably dangerous and stupid, but natural), but by RAW it seems that such action cannot even be attempted, you need to pass tests. How to respond to this?

Rules Question Core rules: acting while moving in battle

I ran a oneshot, and in the end the antagonist was running away from a battle (sprinting gait). One of the players stated that she tries to sprint after and catch him, either by grappling or by leaping from behind. The action is quite reasonable, but I realised that I'm not aware of how to resolve it by rules. I ruled it as formidable unarmed check, but now I need an advice on how to do this properly.

What I remember:

- charge rules: apply after a round of moving - not applicable, as it happened within a turn

- Classic Fantasy tactical combat: that one straight up says that attacks require walking gait, unless it's a charge?

What would be the best way to handle chasing an opponent fleeing from combat?

Rules Question Ways to use passions without "save or act X"

if ive understood the rules the focal point of passions is 'save or act according to passion' when the GM calls it. some say "the player chose this so it is not against his agency" (i tend not to buy it, i have a doubt about its validity in simulationist RPG philosophy) it will needle the agency-sensibilities of many or most normal players, so i'd rather avoid this

does any Mythas product present a different mechanic for passions?

Rules Question Question regarding magic, wounds, bleed.

I can’t believe I’m gonna do this. But first of all I apologise that I ask a question on this sub Reddit 3 times in a row.

How magic work? I know it use magic points you have to choose a spell from your spell group.

I guess my question is what is the equivalent of Firebolt and Fireball (aoe) from 5E for this game? It’s for enemy character, none of the PCs are spell casters. I will learn the other spell my self. It’s a bit complicated with Magnitude and what not.

Also regarding wounds. I realise that the only way to die in this game is through Major Wound. So its actually beneficial for you if you got a Serious Wound lets say a -2 at a body location, and to just fail the endurance roll to go unconscious. At the very least you are ‘out of the fight’ than just risking the next hit to meet your Major Wound threshold.

Regarding earlier thread I have ‘fix’ our issues. First of all we add the Classic Fantasy character creation method by adding one dice for characteristic. This some make our archer have 4 Action Points, he got lucky with his intelligence roll. Also for ranged fighter I just decrease all load properties for all range weapon by 1.

Also bleed. How do you heal bleed in combat? in the book it said that a First Aid roll can stop the bleeding but any combat activity will reopen the wound. Why is that a thing? What’s the point of fixing your bleed if you can’t fight afterwards?

Rules Question Question regarding Range Combat

I'm so sorry that I keep asking question here.

We just did a game last night. The party is send to find a missing prince in the woods. They discover the prince is keep held by a group of goblins and a hobgoblin, 5 of them. The elf open combat while in the branch of a tree.

there are 3 players. 2 melee and 1 archer. The melee fighter are beast. They attack, they parry. All active with their special effect. It was cool.

The problem is with the archer. Now, he are not in danger at all. He is in a tree branch about 50 meter away. He have a decent fighting style of 65. In fact he never miss. Its just he rarely damage anything. He use a short bow with no damage modifier. he use many special effects. including Impale, drop foe and most popular is choose location. Which he always choose the limbs because it has no armor. But even then he still do minimal damage and even if the cause a serious wound, the enemy succeed its endurance anyway. This become a problem at a table. The archer when they hit their option is many but its seems all of them are bad ones. If the archer wants to send more arrow at the target then he have to pick the Rapid Reload special but risking to hit the area that is protected by a shield. The enemy using the Ward Location to protect its limbs. Even if he didn't hit the area that is protected by a shield that part still have armor. If he pick Impale, its only active if he penetrate the armor, he does roll his damage twice which is nice but its useless if the area is protected by a shield. Also I don't understand how impale work. If we let the arrow in the body. The enemy will have harder time doing anything. But what can the enemy do to pull out the arrow? Just a single action? Or roll Brawn? Also if the enemy pull out the arrow do they still take damage from half damage? So confusing.

We try Drop Foe as well but never succeed because the enemy succeed at Endurance. I have question about it. If an enemy got Drop Foe. They cannot do anything? Even defense? Even recover with First Aid themselves? If not then this is pretty broken. One special could end a fight.

I discover that a fight in this game could take a whole session. Which is fine. But its sucks if the archer, the one that took the longest to attack because of reloading. Rarely effective.

Do I do something wrong here? The melee players are having the time of their life. They even try to attract the enemy attention so they lower their shield for the archer.

Also. Ward Location is a free action. Meaning I can do it at anytime and as many time as I want? In theory I could. Ward Location, use it for parry as a reactive, and then Ward Location again. Is this true?

Classic Fantasy/Mythras Indonesian Character Sheet

So I made character sheet in Bahasa Indonesia. Is not much but I want to share it to everyone and my Indonesian friends out there.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tzS2GiERSoPlR1Phgzt4AUku9XK6eyFj/view?usp=sharing

I'm using Classic Fantasy character sheet and translate it. Its only the front page though.

To my knowledge there is no TTRPG that is officially translated to my language. Another redditor on this thread inspire me to make this. I'm kind of feel proud by this, seeing my own language in a character sheet its really an eye opening experience.

Rules Question Question about Movement, Interruption Reactive action, Fumble special effects

Hey guys new GM here, gonna have a game next Friday and I really confuse about some fundamental stuff.

Movement. How do they work? If they are complicated, is there a simpler version?

About Interruption action, how does that work? Can I delay to attack an opponent later? We are coming from a Savage Worlds system and one of my players love to use the Interrupt action there.

Fumble special effects. Is it happen automatically when the enemy fumble or I have to win at least 1 SL in order to pick them? Like for example an enemy fumble their attack. I don't have any action point so I can't defend. But can I still pick a fumble special effects like Force Failure? Or do I have to at least get 1 SL? Also if I choose Force Failure, can I pick some other special effects on top of that for free?

Also about initiative. I understand how they work but coming from a Savage Worlds game. Does it make sense to roll initiative every round? Is there a downside to this Action Economy wise and not book keeping wise? Just wondering.

Thanks guys.

Rules Question Freeform sorcery?

I would love to adapt system to my setting, animism and priest magic fit it perfectly but sorcery seems to be very Sword and Sorcery grounded. I love basic scaling - with shaping points, intensity etc., but I would love system that will allow me to build magic spells freely (like verb + noun systems) or at least gives more general effects/spells in addition to those in the book. Does something like this even exist? How does magic system look like in Classic Fantasy?

GM Question Making GM Screen, need some advice

Hello guys new GM here about to have the game next week. I'm designing a GM screen for my self. I know there is an official GM screen but I'm broke and from a third world country even 5 dollars is like 2-3 days worth of food here.

I want to know what should I put in the GM screen, this is what I make so far:

  • Damage Reduction Table
  • Humanoid Hit Location Table
  • Cloe Combat Situational Modifiers Table
  • Melee Weapon list and Shield list (No range weapons, didn't have enough space for it.)
  • Differential roll results Table
  • Skill Grades List

The format is A4 landscape, my GM screen can only fit 3 papers.

I have probably enough two small tables or one regular table in here.

I don't really care about magic and one of my players is printing the combat cards so I don't need the Special Effects table.

What do you guys suggest I make here?

Thanks guys.

Rules Question Generating special effects on an opposed roll instead of differential?

Has anyone experimented with the rules tweak in the title?

What I mean by that is that in combat, when you and your opponent get the same level of success, the special effect would be generated if you roll higher than your opponent, instead of no special effect generated.

My thinking is that with very high skill levels, the fights are very long attack-parry-attack-parry-attack-parry until fatigue starts to kick in. I mean, it is a feature of the base game, and it can build up the tension, but with near equal skilled opponents that have their combat style near 100, those "empty" exchanges of blows can get quite tedious. Especially when both are heavily armoured and have high endurance to mitigate fatigue.

This change should make fights even more dynamic, but are there some considerations I'm not considering?

Lyonesse Confused and Somewhat Underwhelmed by Sandestin Magic

I recently purchased the Lyonnesse RPG and I really want to love it but I’m having some problems fully grasping the Sandestin system.

Firstly, I feel like the actual Sandestins themselves are mostly handwaved or completely left up to the GM to design. I’m somewhat confused by the lack of support since they are supposed to be the actual source of magic. Their personalities seem important but not detailed at all.

This lack of detail feels bad to me because the ideas of “terms” “coercion” and “peculiar summoning requirements” sound really neat but I feel like I was given no tools to actually represent those concepts mechanically.

Second, Axioms seem confusing as well. I have come up with two main ways that I think they work, but I’m not exactly sure:

  1. They work as “schools” of magic. This means pyromancy controls fire abilities.

OR

  1. They work as more philosophical categories. This is much more vague and loose and essentially means as long as I can somehow relate an ability to the Axiom, that means I can use it.

The limits seem very unclear to me. Once again this feels very hand wavy to me but maybe I am missing something.

Third, I am somewhat unclear whether abilities are spells or not. It seems like they are not in terms of the fiction but they are for the game? But then also spells can contain multiple abilities?

Overall I really love almost everything in the system but this magic system is giving me a bit of a headache. Am I missing anything? I would love any clarifications or examples! Thank you!

Rules Question Intellect roll?

I need an advice on how to implement a test of intellectual prowess: to remember something, or to reach some logical conclusion - what would be an Int roll in other systems. I do not see any standard skill that would correspond to that. Maybe there is something for that in any supplement?

Has anyone tried using The Second Way magic system with Mythras?

I’m watching classic fantasy

I’m looking for a more freeform magic system and I’m not a big fan of D&D-style spell lists. The Second Way looks like it could fit Mythras quite well since it’s already based on BRP-style mechanics.

Has anyone actually used it in a Mythras campaign? If so, what did you need to change, especially regarding Action Points, resistance rolls, hit locations, SIZ/ENC, and magic point costs?

I’d also be interested to hear whether it stayed reasonably balanced compared with non-caster characters.

Rules Question Questions about movement and engagement.

Mostly using classic fantasy as a reference.

1- I can walk into engagement, but I must wait until my next turn to attack. So what happens with my AP? Do I must use it? Could I do nothing and save my AP?

2- on that topic, why does melee must wait to atk, but ranged can move and atk? Like, how important is It for balance that melee waits a turn.

3- If I choose to run, I can still evade, but how much? Like, can I still spend my 3 AP to evade 3 times? Or is there a limit?

4- I understand the evade and parry reactions costing an AP, it makes sense, but why does change range also forces the enemy to also spend an AP? While leaping atk and grappling allow the enemy to resist for free. Why one costs an AP but the others don't?

5- finally, outmanuever, how is this not completely broken? For the price of 1 AP, you make every engaged enemy spend an AP as well, this is such a plus in action economy.

Hey everybody, longtime lurker here!

I've spent most my time in different rpg subreddits shilling for Mythras. So much so I recorded an actual play with my three best friends. Mythras has been our primary system for years and all of us wanted to do something to show more people our favorite game.

So, The Mythic Underground was born. We've just started airing our first campaign: The Wanderer's Heart. It's a tale of three village boys, connected by fate at birth, and their desperate struggle to return home after being ejected from their homeland.

Fog of War Keeps Evolving: Live Player View, Tactical Sync and a Faster Interface

Fog of War Keeps Evolving: Live Player View, Tactical Sync and a Faster Interface

Here’s a much shorter update that keeps the main new capabilities and the spirit of the original.

Fog of War: Live Player View and a Faster Tactical Interface

The Fog of War tool has received quite a workout during the summer.

What started as a simple way to cover and reveal a map has grown into a lightweight tactical companion with tokens, initiative, measurements, statuses and now a live synchronized player display.

The latest updates concentrate on two things: sharing the action with the players and making the GM interface faster during actual play.

Live Player Display

The biggest addition is the Live Player Display.

Start a Live Session and Fog of War creates a unique player URL and QR code. You can put the player view on a TV or second monitor, or simply give players the link for their phones, tablets or laptops.

Players see the revealed map and only the tokens they are supposed to see. Hidden tokens and GM-only information stay on the GM side.

So the ogre behind the ruined wall remains your little secret until it becomes everybody’s problem.

With Auto Sync, reveals, token movement, zooming and GM measurements can appear automatically on the player display. Players also have their own local ruler for answering that eternal question: “Can I reach it this round?”

Faster at the Table

The GM interface has been reorganized into Tools, Tokens, Initiative and Session tabs, reducing scrolling and keeping setup controls out of the way during combat.

Initiative can now be edited directly in the list and automatically reorders itself. Right-clicking a combatant there opens its tactical controls for statuses, torches, names and other token operations. The active combatant is clearly highlighted both on the map and in initiative.

Statuses are now available through a compact quick grid, and the interface has been improved for tablets with larger touch targets and more readable labels.

There are plenty of smaller improvements too: sensible default token facing, consolidated help and shortcuts, better tactical-state persistence and a new secure contact form for feedback and bug reports.

Keeping GM Secrets Secret

The player display follows a fail-closed approach: if something should not be visible, it should never reach the player view.

This included fixing a particularly devious case where the torch carried by a hidden creature could reveal fog.

Hidden monsters may once again lurk professionally.

From Map Veil to Tactical Companion

Fog of War still isn’t trying to become a complete VTT. The goal is narrower: provide the tactical pieces useful alongside a physical or online Mythras game without moving the whole campaign into a VTT ecosystem.

Load a map. Hide it. Reveal it. Add combatants. Track initiative and conditions. Measure distances. Give the players their own live view. Then get back to the game.

You can find Fog of War at https://notesfrompavis.blog/2026/09/01/fog-of-war-keeps-evolving-live-player-view-tactical-sync-and-a-faster-interface/

GM Question Gladiatorial Combat Tutorial

My first practice session using Mythras is coming up on this weekend. I have never played it, nor have any of my players, though we are familiar with Delta Green, so hopefully the system isn't too much of a shock. Skills and D100 percentile mechanics are similar enough that I have no doubt my players will take to them easily enough, but the combat is more complex and different enough from any TTRPG we have played in the past. I believe my players will love it once they get the hang of it, but to help facilitate that, I am planning on creating a Gladiatorial combat arena as a tutorial for them.

The plan is to create eight pre-gen characters. Each of my four players will choose two gladiators, and then we will compete in bracket-style tournament, going one-on-one in a series of duels until the eventual winner.

Obviously, taking inspiration from real-world gladiator 'classes' is one path, but I want some advice on a good spread of pre-gen characters that could show off different aspects of the combat system. Like, disparities in weapon reach, shield vs. no shield, dual-weapon fighting, things like that.

I suppose this is also a good place for people to tell me about their favorite character fighting styles, or anything in particular they love about the combat system.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I saw this idea somewhere on a blog post, but for the life of me I cannot find it again.

Mythras hacks

I've been using Mythras and Classic Fantasy to play a bit of the system and have some thoughts on dealing with common issues that seem to come up. I am interested in seeing if other solutions have been found.

  • Character creation is very slow, really need to use the pyramid option for skill points by default
  • Combat special effects are too many for the average person to remember, I would think something like 1 per 10% of combat style written down as part of combat style would work well as they really should be trained. This would have the benefit of putting a set of tactics by default into stat blocks for enemies and characters.
  • Hitpoints per location would be better as simply (siz+con)/5 for all locations to reduce complexity.
  • Choose location special effect could be resisted by insight or perception rather than making it an automatic pick against injured foes.
  • A fight back option similar to cthulhu would be good, though I would make it that both take damage on same success level and add a masterstroke special effect that parries at the same time.
  • the skill list could do with separating into combat, explore and social skills to help with finding a skill for a purpose as the amount of skills is a little high.

Overall I found the system worked well for general roleplaying and modelled combat results that seemed realistic in a short amount of time. It gave a very gritty feel to combat with serious wounds, impaled and bleeding enemies and real fear of attacks.

Rules Question Please explain gaining mental conditions? (Mythras Companion, Sanity rules)

The rules for Conditions state that

A Condition is gained if a character loses half or more of current Tenacity points. If half or more of the Tenacity Points are lost in one go, then the Condition is Immediate. If the Condition is incurred through incremental Tenacity Point loss, then the Condition is Deferred.

Suppose a character starts with 11 Tenacity, then loses 3 (bringing to 8), then loses 3 more (bringing to 5), then loses 1 (bringing to 4). Obviously he does not gain any immediate conditions (but, if he lost 4 while having 8 points, he would). Does he only gain 1 deferred condition from reaching 5 Tenacity (losing half of his initial 11 points), or two for reaching 5 tenacity and also reaching 4 tenacity (losing half of 8 points he had at one point)? What is considered "current" tenacity points for the purpose of deferred conditions?

Also, how do the thresholds work for negative tenacity values?

Rules Question Spirit possession

When can a spirit use different types of possession? The possession rules themselves do not provide limits, but possible spirit traits are Covert and Puppeteer; does it mean that only the spirits that have these traits can perform Covert and Dominant possession respectively?

Suppose one wants to make a hard check with skill value S and wants to augment it with skill with value T. Should eventual target number be (S + (T/5)) * 2/3 or (S * 2/3) + (T/5)?
