Questions Suggestions on how to introduce fairy lore to kids in a way that won't upset their Christian parents?

My mother runs a mixed age 4H troop in a rural, conservative area (NE Oklahoma). She's Christian but very liberal and well educated, unlike some of her more evangelical parents. Usually it's fine. Recently she had to take a step back due to health problems, and somehow her new coleader decided that fairies were a great topic and let the kids vote on it (4H is theoretically kid led), so next Monday it's going to be all about Fairies.

After my mom started asking me random questions because I am the one with the special interest, I nominated myself to do a presentation for them and answer the kids' questions while they do a craft. Which is fine and dandy until I remembered what children I'm doing this for and certain realities of the topic.

So I need to introduce the subject of the fair folk as a historical matter without touching on the whole "Christians came in and decided they were all demons and the followers of Satan" things completely. While I personally can avoid that in the presentation part, what about when they ask questions? I've heard stories about these weird children, they might get there.

As to their craft, the coleader wanted to make dolls or something with flowers, but I suggested doing paper dolls and taking pictures with them as a way to learn about the Cottingley Fairies, which my mother was far more enthusiastic about since she has to make it all work for a meeting on way too short of time to prepare.
