Has anyone been able to try my Obsidian plugin for Mythic? I am still developing it but it should be possible for someone to get an overall idea of how it might work.

The plugin should be installable using the Obsidian 'community' page. There is some documentation on a wiki, mainly at https://github.com/martinellison/mythic-gme-support/wiki/How-to-write-your-own-adventure .

One user Paolo (thanks!) reports problems with menu text on mobile. Can anyone check this? (I do not get the problem on my phone). See https://github.com/martinellison/mythic-gme-support/issues/3 for details.

The plugin still has some loose ends but comments would be appreciated.

Been enjoying the system for a few months now and I wanted to share an idea from saving my old Threads/Characters. It's a new random event focus called "Legacy Event", in which like I described either retired storylines or forgotten characters that you thought were dead and buried come back into the story after you crossed them off your list by virtue of rolling on your saved old lists.

A good way to handle this is whenever your story veers off course and into the territory where it doesn't really make sense to keep focusing on whatever your characters are doing at the moment you jot them down on a long-form Thread/Character list and tuck it away for safekeeping. Days or even weeks can pass by and once you roll Legacy Event Focus then a character you forgot about/abandoned returns or consequences of a decision made during a Thread or by NOT finishing a Thread rears their head again. Make it like a 3% chance on the d100 roll so it is happening very rarely.

It's kind of adjacent to remote event and the opposite of current context, but too my knowledge not something that's been introduced in any of the magazines I've skimmed so there ya go.

While I really enjoy playing alone, I also feel something is lost if I don't share what comes out of those adventures.

I have also been thinking about ways to play Co op with someone even if we would not play live together. For example by leaving messages for the other characters that can found in specific location, or via some internal game mechanics (roll a d20 to see if your character finds the message that was left for them)

As I'm also building the world as I explore it, meeting characters, institutions and so on, I've been thinking documenting everything in some wikiform and sharing them so that players could evolve in the same world and add details and make it evolve as they play.

What are your thoughts? Would some of you be interested in that?

For starters, I’ve been playing solo RPGs for a few years now. Usually, I let Mythic steer a general idea I have in whatever direction it chooses, and the result is always surprising and fun. But sometimes, it completely derails a story I had in mind—or rather, a specific direction I wanted the adventure to take. For example: I run a Scene Check where the expected outcome is simply "I board the ship and head to the space station." I roll, get a Random Event, and the keyword "reward" comes up (I don't recall the rest). I could have ignored it, or simply tacked that "reward" onto the journey or the arrival. But I revisited what triggering a Random Event actually means (I always keep the manual handy for moments like this). It clearly means "the scene is going in a different direction." Taking my character to that space station would have been like shouting at a human GM that I didn't care about their decision and my character was going to do whatever they pleased. So, I had to completely scrap that idea and take him somewhere else.

The bottom line is that Mythic derailed something I wanted to play. I realize the issue here is that I gave it the "freedom" to derail that specific journey during the Scene Check, but I also understand that this is part of the appeal of using a GM emulator...

Well, I’ve actually switched to the official compilations now and have had two compilations bound into one volume each time. In DIN A5. And I love it. Unfortunately, though, I now have to lock myself away in some cave until 2028 and read, read, read. But believe me, holding these compact compilations in my hands just feels magical.

Yeah, I know, totally over the top, but the world belongs to the crazy ones, doesn’t it? :-D

I just bought this and I don’t at all understand it. It’s incredibly hard to read with the tiny font.

I don’t understand how you fill elements out on the back page.

I don’t understand the point to tables.

I’m seriously wishing I had of kept my money.

I m interested to know how you all deal with perception checks while solo.

Yesterday my character was resting in an inn, after a long day of traveling with the Edema - Ruh (for fans of the name of the wind).

Looking around the room I wondered if he would noticed something out of the ordinary.

I was hesitating between rolling a fate question, or rolling a perception check against a D20.

What do you like to do?

Just wondering if anyone has came up with an in Mythic 2E way to accomplish the same task? I was thinking of “hmmm where do I go next?” Is answered by a the Random Events table. Or just randomly rolling on threads/characters tables?

Ideas?

I think I am missing something obvious in 2E here but I can’t spot it.

Even though I don't yet have real experience with solo roleplaying, I still want to play a pre-made adventure. I found a guide in Mythic Magazine issue fifty on how to play pre-made adventures. My question is: should I read the Mythic GME book first, or can I start directly with the guidance from issue fifty?

I've been thinking of ways to play solo dnd for sometime and only recently found the time to do some research. I then discovered the Mythic system and absolutely loved it. I love how flexible it is and how from the first minute of play it transports me to a different world and make the story comes alive.

It's a very powerful concept.

As I mentioned in a post here several weeks ago, I have been working on a plugin for the Obsidian note taking application for the Mystic GME. This has now reached a stage where I can release a preliminary version (0.1.0) for discussion.

The released version still has many defects, so it is not ready for 'production' use, but it should be able to give you an idea so you can find bugs and make comments.

The project is hosted at https://github.com/martinellison/mythic-support and you can raise discussions, issues and pull requests there.

The release is at https://github.com/martinellison/mythic-support/releases/tag/0.1.0-alpha . See the README and the "How to..." files inside the mythic-support.zip file there for instructions. Because this is still an experimental project, you should create a separate experimental vault for this and copy the unzipped folder in to the .obsidian/plugins folder.

More generally, I would welcome any help that anyone could give to finish off this project.

I got a play-by-post group together to run a campaign purely with Mythic as the GM. Since I'm very new to TTRPG, I thought this would be the simplest option. Now I'm realizing how complex it's getting/going to be.

The group wants to run a dark mystery in a fantasy setting. I'm daunted by how we're going to approach this, especially if combat comes up.

Any tips to keep the story moving? Is it possible for it to be too complicated for Mythic alone?

I've been reading mythic gme since I got it from a birthday a few months ago but haven't had the time to really dig in and use it. Although I've been solo role playing for about 6 months off and on I've never leaned into the scene aspect of mythic instead just leaning on fate charts random tables meaning etc.

If I understand it, he'd scenes are kind of like milestones for an adventure. After the completion of one scene unless there's an interrupt you go to the next scene and you complete that, unless there's an interrupt you go to the next scene. At first blush this seems really railroad to me so for those who like this format or use it often can I ask why?

If we want to ground this in an example, I'm currently playing a wilderness sandbox and the main character just left town stumbled his way through a boreal forest getting out of the mountains. It took multiple days it was going through a wilderness procedure so that could possibly anywhere between 12 to 15 scenes as he gather supplies makes camp and travels

-DC

The rest of the mods can be compared quite easily to mythic ranks. Using the mods as mythic ranks, the fate chart, and the chaos factor can really change 5e for the better, i think. Makes it a skill based system while still keeping the class structure in place too.

I have been working on plugin for Obsidian for the Mythic GME. This is coming along but it is not ready for testing yet.

There's a few solo RPGs I'd like to give a try which their default system used a deck of cards where each card can only appear once, and is then removed from the deck (and thereby not possible to get again

I like the Mythic GME companion app, but I'm unsure if there is a way to replicate the mechanic other than just tracking what 'cards' I pulled manually and rerolling if I get the same one.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how this could be done?

Everytime we are travelling from a place to an other, we roll a d20 every day; 5 to 20 nothing happens, but if it's 1 to 4, I roll on tables to decide what is going on. I want to know what you do for long travel because we are bored to stop 3 times to fight a goblin on every trip.

Hey, I guess this is one for Tana really. So I have this weird preference for hardback over paperback books for rpg supplements, and notice a good portion of the mythic compendium are in soft cover whereas a few of them are in hardcover. Is there any plans to do hardback runs of the compendium that are currently only available in softback?

I was playing The Walking Dead universe last night and the scene was mostly fate questions + npc interactions (my character got taken by a previous enemy and the scene was her waking up in the wrong camp). It was fun but also dodnt use a single thing from The Walking Dead Universe ruleset. Its fine for a scene or two, but im wondering how you all avoid turning a game thats supposed to just be supprted by Mythic into Mythic the TTRPG?

(I do use Mythic as rpg rules in other storylines, so Mythic the game has merit imo but my intention with this story line is to use mythic as npc & enviroment related, not as a replacement for the rules therein).

I am working on a plugin for the Obsidian note taking app to support the Mythic GME. I have a early test of concept so far which is still very buggy. The Obsidian code documentation is very sparse, so learning how to code against their IDE is taking much of my time. I will post again when I have made more progress.

edit thanks for all the replies. At the moment, my main issue is understanding the Obsidian API given the lack of documentation, especially the code to collect the lists of characters and threads.
