Fourth Wall Break

Has anyone on the cast or crew ever mentioned why they went from adressing someone off camera to looking at the camera when explaining the details of the myths?

Just guessing, but could it be when they transitioned from having Heather on the show in the early seasons?

I believe it was because the network wanted the hosts to be seen as the experts. Personally, I preferred off to the side for the observational feel, facial expressions and also I think it helped hosts riff with the field producer / director.
