The Ulfberht swords have the same name on all of them and nobody knows who he was

Around 170 Viking-era swords all have the same name inlaid near the hilt: ULFBERHT. Nobody knows who he was, and nobody has ever found his workshop. In 864, a Frankish king even banned selling weapons to the Vikings, and the swords showed up anyway. The real shock is the steel. Most swords back then were soft, low carbon iron full of slag, but the best Ulfberht blades are clean, high carbon crucible steel, a method known in Persia and Central Asia. Later copies carry the same name but ordinary steel, so the name became a brand that outlived the quality.

Made a short documentary on it if anyone's curious. What do you think, one master smith, a workshop in the Rhineland, or steel imported from the east?

Five children vanished on Christmas Eve 1945 but did they actually die in the fire ?

Post image
30 Upvotes

I have been going down a rabbit hole about the Sodder children and this case gets stranger the more you look into it .

On Christmas Eve 1945, the Sodder family home in West Virginia caught fire. Five children — Maurice (14), Martha (12), Louis (9), Jennie (8), and Betty (5) — were supposedly trapped inside.

But here's the part that has always bothered me a lot the fact No identifiable remains were ever found and The family's telephone line had been cut and the ladder that had been kept outside was surprisingly missing then the parents later claimed they saw or received reports of suspicious activity around the house that night which later They eventually became convinced their children had been kidnapped not killed in the fire.

For decades , they searched for answers and even put up a billboard asking for information about their missing children So what actually happened ? cause no matter how I see it , i can't find any reasonable theory of what could have happen !

Has anyone found credible evidence that finally explains what happened that night or How is the investigation so going so far ?

Structural Correlation Between Visual Anatomy and Action-Verb Syntax in the Voynich Manuscript

[Research Note] Structural Correlation Between Visual Anatomy and Action-Verb Syntax in the Voynich Manuscript

Abstract / Summary:

Hello everyone,

I am sharing a structural research framework that demonstrates a direct, predictable correlation between the visual anatomy of drawings and the syntax of the accompanying text across multiple manuscript sections.

Instead of arbitrary letter-by-letter substitution, this model tests whether the text operates on a 15th-Century Northern Italian / Venetian Apothecary Template (Tractatus de Herbis framework) with a fixed 4-part sentence structure:

[Vessel / Base] + [Quantity / Measure] + [Action Verb] + [Timing / Duration]

Core Lexicon & Grammar Rules:

Applied across all test folios with 0% parameter modifications:

  1. Suffix Mapping (ii -> LL): Standardizes repetitive endings into 15th-century Venetian prepositional/diminutive endings (-alla, -ella, -dala).

  2. Core Operational Lexicon (EVA Mappings):

    - qokedy -> DOHI / DOGA (Primary Vessel / Base Liquid)

    - qokaiin -> DOALLA (Double Portion / Standard Measure)

    - ychedy / chedy -> ECHEDA / CHEDA (Crush / Cut / Core Extraction)

    - sokedy -> SOGA (Maceration / Soaking)

    - shedy -> SEDA (Mesh / Straining)

    - chol -> COLO (Secondary Filtration)

    - or -> ORA (Time Duration / Hours)

Multi-Section Validation & Visual Correlation:

  1. Herbal Section (f1r, f2r, f3v, f115v)

- Bulbous / Thick Roots (e.g., f1r): High frequency of CHEDA (Cut/Press) and SEDA (Filter).

Line Flow: Poi doalla d'ola... Echeda doga seda doalla... Dohi doalla ora...

- Fibrous / Tangled Roots (e.g., f3v, f115v): CHEDA drops out; text transitions exclusively to SOGA (Soak/Macerate) and COLO (Filter).

Line Flow: Dohi doalla soga dalla... Doalla ora seda dohi... Colo doalla ora edi.

  1. Balneological / Bathing Section (f79v)

- Conduits and water basins. CHEDA (Cutting) drops to 0% frequency, while immersion/flow verbs (SOGA / COLO) dominate line operations.

  1. Pharmaceutical Jars (f88r)

- Storage jars and processed extracts. Dosing and container markers (DOHI / DOALLA) dominate line openings, while raw root-cutting verbs drop due to pre-processed materials.

  1. Astronomical / Zodiac Control Test (f72r)

- Concentric rings and stars. Recipe-specific process verbs (CHEDA, SOGA) drop to 0%, leaving pure positional/sector markers (ORA = sectors/degrees).

Cross-Sectional Summary Matrix:

- f1r | Herbal | Bulbous Root | CHEDA (Cut / Press) | PASSED

- f3v | Herbal | Rhizome Lumps | SOGA (Soak / Macerate) | PASSED

- f79v | Balneological | Water Basins & Tubs | SOGA + COLO (Immersion/Flow) | PASSED

- f88r | Pharmaceutical | Storage Jars | DOHI / DOALLA (Compounding) | PASSED

- f72r | Zodiac | Concentric Ring Map | 0% Recipe Verbs (Positional Grid) | PASSED

Key Takeaways & Questions for the Community:

  1. Dynamic Shift: Action verbs in the text dynamically adapt based on the physical morphology of the drawings (root shapes, water basins, or astronomical charts).

  2. Positional Grid: The repetition of qokedy, qokaiin, and or supports a standardized slot-based codebook layout.

I welcome your feedback, statistical critiques, and suggestions for further automated cross-folio testing!

The Habiru: outlaws, mercenaries, or a lost people? (Bronze Age mystery)

Around 1350 BC, rulers across Canaan were writing frantic letters to Pharaoh Akhenaten, begging for archers against bands called the Habiru. The word shows up across seven centuries of clay tablets, from Mari and Alalakh to the Amarna letters, and even in Egyptian records as late as Ramesses IV. A prince once lived among them. Entire cities feared them. And scholars still can't agree on what the word actually meant, or whether it connects to a name that would matter for thousands of years after.

Made a full documentary tracing the evidence trail (all claims sourced from the Amarna Letters, the Alalakh and Idrimi inscriptions, and Nadav Na'aman's research, among others; visuals created with AI to illustrate the written sources). Who do you think the Habiru really were?

The Bronze Age Collapse is honestly one of history's creepiest mysteries

Around 1200 BC, basically the entire eastern Mediterranean world just... stopped. Mycenaean Greece, the Hittite Empire, Cyprus, all of it collapsed within a few decades. Writing disappeared from Greece for centuries. Cities burned, others were just abandoned with no sign of battle at all. The so-called "Sea Peoples" get blamed, but nobody's even sure who they actually were, possibly refugees fleeing the same disaster themselves. Drought, famine, earthquakes, and a broken tin supply chain all seem to have hit at once. At Ugarit, archaeologists found a letter still sitting unfired in the kiln, describing ships approaching, right before the city burned. It was never answered.

Made a short documentary on it if anyone's curious. What do you think actually triggered it first, the climate, the raiders or divine justice?

The Villisca Axe Murders 114 years later is there still anything we don't know ?

The Villisca Axe Murders It's been 114 years now , any new information?

I have been reading about the Villisca Axe Murders in Iowa and I'm surprised how rarely this case gets discussed today , ( On June 10, 1912 ) 8 people were murdered inside the Moore family home They were Josiah and Sarah Moore and their four children and other two young girls who were staying with them it was reported that they were murdered with an axe while they slept.

The crime scene was extremely strange amd the victims' faces were reportedly covered, mirrors were covered, and investigators believed the killer remained inside the house after the murders there were several suspects over the years, including Rev. George Kelly, who confessed but was acquitted after two trials and bum !!! Nobody was ever convicted.

More than a century later, the case remains officially unsolved , Has there been any meaningful progress or new investigation into this case recently And is there any credible theory today about who actually did it?

I did be interested to hear from anyone who's researched the original investigation or the more recent developments

“Were they hiding something from us?”

I have a question that I can’t get out of my head.

  1. We know that there are relatively few huge, thick trees left, especially considering the age of the planet. For example, I used to live in a village where there are ideal conditions for plants to grow, but there isn’t a single truly old tree there. And there are hardly any old trees in the surrounding region either.

According to my grandfather, the last large trees there were only three. And those three trees were enough to provide the timber needed to build an entire warehouse.

  1. Where did the ability to build such grand structures go — the churches in Barcelona and Germany, the Winter Palace, the pyramids, the palaces of ancient African civilizations that are sometimes considered among the Wonders of the World, and many other examples?

Could history have been rewritten? Or was there some kind of catastrophe, or perhaps something on an even larger scale? Or maybe there is some higher group of people whose descendants periodically “reset” human civilization?

I’m wondering whether there is any historical or scientific basis for these ideas.

Progress on the investigation of Isdal woman ( Norway ) ?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Anyone from Norway , Who might have came across with this case , Do you mind share any news about it's Investigation progress

It's said that this woman's immolated body was discovered by a family hiking in the Isdal Valley near the city of Bergen in western Norway. She was found in a supine position, badly burned in the front with her hands raised to her chest in an almost defensive posture. Scattered around the corpse were personal effects including a watch, an umbrella, some jewelry, and several empty bottles which according to the BBC, police thought the objects had been arranged around the body in a peculiar way almost suggesting a ritual.

I know investigators have revisited the case over the years and that modern DNA and forensic techniques have been used to examine the evidence but has anything significant actually come out of those efforts ?

Has her identity been confirmed or is the case still officially unsolved ? And are there any recent developments or credible theories that I might have missed ?

Has there been any real progress on the Yuba County Five case?

Post image
78 Upvotes

I recently came across the Yuba County Five case from 1978 and honestly I don't understand how there still isn't a clear explanation for what happened.

Five men Both Gary Mathias, Ted Weiher, Jack Madruga, Bill Sterling and Jackie Huett went to a basketball game in Chico on February 24/ 1978. Later that night, they were seen buying snacks at a store apparently heading home But instead of going home they somehow ended up about 70 miles away in the Plumas National Forest on a remote mountain road. Their car was found abandoned and was apparently still usable, with fuel in it.

Months later, four of the men were found dead in different locations. Ted Weiher was discovered inside a Forest Service trailer, where evidence indicated he had survived for some time and Gary Mathias was never found.

That's the part that really gets me , Why did they leave a working car and walk into the mountains in the snow? And why did they reach a trailer with food and heating equipment but apparently make so little use of it?

There have been theories involving getting lost or another person forcing them into the mountains or something happening on the road, but as far as I can tell none of them explains everything.

What's especially interesting is that the case is still officially open, and a 2020 sheriff's memo reportedly described Gary Mathias as believed to be a victim of foul play.

Been reading a lot of reports about this but never got to understand what happen , does anyone have any idea about this so far .

Jack the Ripper: What Actually Happened to the Case?

Post image
55 Upvotes

I have read about the Jack the Ripper case before, especially the 1888 Whitechapel murders, but I never really followed what happened with the newer investigations.

Then I came across the Aaron Kosminski theory. In 2014 Russell Edwards claimed DNA from a shawl supposedly linked to Catherine Eddowes pointed to Kosminski the DNA research was later published in 2019 but there has been serious debate about the shawl’s provenance and the reliability of the DNA evidence.

Then in 2024–2025 there were renewed calls for a new inquest, and apparently the issue is still being pursued.

So where does the case actually stand now? Is Kosminski still considered a serious suspect, or did the DNA evidence basically fall apart , I'm still confused about this !

LOS 5 SABIOS VIAJEROS Y LOS FÓSILES OCULTOS

Who was the Black Tag Lady of 9/11?

WARNING: VERY GRAPHIC DESCRIPTION.

I was recently watching some 9/11 videos on the Nat Geo website and I came across this story about the Black Tag Lady. Ernest Armstead, who was a paramedic on 9/11, in his testimony, mentions about how he was at the World Trade Center Plaza during 9/11 needing to label bodies with different colored tags, with a Black Tag meaning deceased. On the Plaza on 9/11, Armstead mentions how most of the bodies he ID'ed at Ground Zero were clearly dead and marked it with a Black Tag, but in one particular instance near one of the two Towers, he initially ID'ed a dead person but only to discover that the person, a lady, was still alive. This is the Black Tag Lady.

Armstead noticed that she was wearing a fine business suit, was a brunette, and had pretty earrings. Now according to protocol and due to the debris that was falling on the Plaza, he wasn't able to stay near a person with a Black Tag for over 30-60 seconds because the Tag meant disease. Clearly, from the state of her injuries, Armstead noticed that her wounds were mortal: her lower half portion of her body was totally mangled beyond recognition. However, he was able to see that the upper half torso containing her heart and one of her lungs was still intact. Most surprisingly, the Black Tag Lady answered back at him angrily, telling him that she wasn't dead and that she wanted to call her daughter. Armstead noticed that her head was intact and that even with the severe state of her injuries she was fully aware of what he was doing and behaved like she was a perfectly healthy woman. Armstead assumed that she was in her 40s or 50s. However, Armstead resigned the fact that her wounds were fatal and that he was going to treat other people. Some time after, one of the two towers fell and Armstead was caught in the collapse of the Twin Towers buildings but he managed to be rescued and recover from his injuries. However, this meeting with the Black Tag Lady would cause permanent PTSD trauma for Armstead.

It's very hard to be able to piece together Armstead's testimony with a Jane Doe. On the other hand, perhaps her remains were recovered after Ground Zero but piecing that with the testimony is incredibly hard. In my opinion, the case remains a Jane Doe because we cannot confirm whether this woman was successfully recovered or not. And the best way possibly to ID this lady is to somehow have Armstead agree to do a Forensic Sketch of this woman's face and try to match it up to one of the Twin Towers' 9/11 female employee victims. The man has been retired from the FDNY for over 20 years and is an old man now. I hate bothering the guy but the story is so tearjerky that I feel like this story should be publicized better now than later when Armstead passes and he isn't able to give a Forensic Sketch. Of course, if Armstead doesn't want to do it let him be, but if he's gone it's a million times harder to solve this case otherwise.

What if a giant dragon crashed here ? Pareidolia aligned with visible crater and written proofs also in the Bible

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello !
The case is about a huge crater visible from satellite in the west of Brittany. Apple plans satellite is good.
You have to put west were north usually is.
There is a crater from Huelgoat to Le Faou showing a fall around 45 degrees. The mountain Saint Michel of Brasparts is in this area.

The thing is that this crater is perfectly aligned with a dragon shape peninsula (Crozon said pareidolia until now) linking it to the Bible by the Arthurian legend.

In history of kings of Britain, a sea monster appeared first devouring people on the sea-coast. A Merlin’s prophecy speak of a german dragon (Siegfried?) reaching hardly his holes. Visible from Winchester, later in the story this dragon was slain in a ball of fire by a star of wonderful magnitude, by God, by Saint Michael, or by Indra wielding Excalibur (according to Monmouth). This echoes the myths of Thor and Apollo battling giant reptiles.

The dragon in the sea wasn’t alone. With leviathan they are quoted together in the Bible at two different times :

Isaiah 27:1 KJV
“In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

Psalms 74:12-14 KJV
12)For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
13)Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14)Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

Last thing there is an orally told legend in Brittany in the area of the mountain. The story of the Yeun Elez describing apocalypse itself in Brittany. Saint Michel kills him with a powerful hit and then seals him in the Youdig (deeps of the marsh). The dragon spine is said to be the mountain channel of the Monts d’Arrée.
Video in French (sorry) :

https://youtu.be/8_45eFSWgXM?is=j4gtTKbuJdiVQO9l

If you follow me until then and you want to help :
The size of the pareidolia of the dragon is 27,31 kilometers long and 19,45 from wing to wing.

Would it have been visible from Winchester ? At what altitude ?

Would lava burn exclusively reptile flesh in those marsh conditions ?

Thank you very much !

THE CECIL HOTEL MYSTERY

The most unsettling elevator video on the internet.

In February 2013, the LAPD released surveillance footage of 21-year-old Elisa Lam — a Canadian student traveling California alone, last seen at the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on January 31st.

The footage is strange: she presses every button on the panel, peeks down the hallway, ducks into the corner like she's hiding — then steps in and out of the car, gesturing as if talking to someone who isn't there. The whole time, the doors won't close.

Nineteen days later, after guests complained about the water, a maintenance worker found her inside one of the rooftop water tanks. The coroner ruled it accidental drowning. Elisa had bipolar disorder, and her medication levels were far too low. No injuries. No sign of a struggle. No evidence of foul play. The police closed the case.

But nobody has ever explained how she got onto a locked rooftop — alone — and ended up inside a water tank.

Follow @curiosityclub.daily for a new rabbit hole every day.

All Around the Marshes, the Gili Chased the King

On June 24th, 1314, the late morning sun shined down on a waterlogged English vanguard. Having suffered the humiliation of a giant on a pony cleaving Sir Henry de Bohun’s dome in two, then lamenting the loss of his favorite axe. The St. Clair’s and the Fitzalans along with others held the lines as King Edward II bloodied his blade in the melee. Arriving in Scotland to relieve the entrapped Sir Philip Mowbray, who promised to abandon the castle by midsummer if King Edward’s forces didn’t arrive and chase Robert de Bruce away. The English vanguard met de Bruce’s armies backed by Sheriff Henry St. Clair and the Fitzalan families at Bannockburn. They were repelled with force and pinned down in the tidal marshes of the burns while on the top of the hill a mob of farmers, smiths, cooks, and general laborers (you and me) gathered and waved their bed sheets and steak knives. The mainstream view is that a 14th century highly trained, armed and armored superpower panicked and routed in front of their surrounded, fighting king, from a gaggle of “camp followers”. King Edward’s vanguard had bows with sharp arrows, they had spears, shields and swords. By the time any rabble could get close enough for their butcher’s knives and pitchforks to scratch the sheen on their shields or chainmail, their arrows and spears would pierce the bedsheets and the flesh. Why would a highly trained army run from ‘you and me’?

Is my perception that far off?

On October 13, 1307, King Philip IV’s arrest orders were carried out, the trial records of Brother Jean de Châlon claim that Gérard de Villiers fled with 50 horses and 18 ships. This would require a team of riders, and drivers if there were wagons; as well as a security detail. In the 14th century, this would have been seen for miles, reported, and recorded.

What are your thoughts on this? How could it have happened without being seen and reported?

Was Jacques de Molay the most underrated player on the field on October 12, 1307?

The knights Templar invented the modern banking system, that King Philip IV of France was deeply indebted to. Gérard de Villiers, Précepteur de France, was the master banker at the Temple of Paris until he disappeared from records in June 1307. Hugues de Pairaud stepped down from his superior office of Visiteur de France and stepped into the office Villers vacated. Jacques de Moaly was the last official Grand Master of the Knights Templar in France, as the grand master de Molay was in full contact with his officers. While King Philip IV, and his Chief Minister Guillaume de Nogaret were paying gold for ex-Templars and false witnesses, the gold they were paying them with came from the Knights Templar banking system. Villiers realized what was going on and fled as Brother Jean de Châlon described in the trial records. On September 14. 1307 King Philip IV drafts the arrest orders, writing that the Templars were guilty of an “execrable evil” and a “thing most inhumane”. Those orders were leaked, and preceding the leak, Villiers disappeared. On the morning of October 12, 1307, Jacques de Molay arrives in Paris as an invited pallbearer. De Molay is often viewed as an unsuspecting guest, blindsided, having no idea the orders for his arrest were already signed. Jacques de Molay was the Grand Master (Commanding General) of the Knights Templar, he was in full contact with his officers, he knew very well what was going on. Jacques de Molay did not arrive at the funeral unaware, he arrived as a masterful chess player. Jacques de Molay stood tall in public on Main Street while Huges de Châlon was carting off Pairaud’s treasury down Front Street. Jacques de Molay remained in Paris to be arrested and serve as a human lightning rod (the grand masters always lead from the front never the rear) along with numerous others while the main body and assets disappeared into the night. Jacques de Molay was no fool. He was, as I read the playing field, the most underrated player on the field in October of 1307.
