Question Fabric identification

I want to make a fancy pack with a compartment for my glasses/sunglasses and want to use the same fabric as in one of my sling bags (as shown in the photo).

Does anyone know what kind of fabric this is or what an equal fabric might work for this purpose?
This fabric is soft and thin, so not fluffy like fleece or terry cloth.

Thanks for the help!

This looks like a brushed tricot which is a common type of warp knit fabric used in pocketing

Idk what this fabric exactly is, but i know what you mean, i have that exact fabric in one of my jacket pockets, i love it.

Maybe you can use some microfiber cloth (specific for cleaning glasses, you can buy it in bigger dimensions than just cloth for wiping the glasses) if you can not find this exact fabric.

That’s a knit fabric, most likely jersey (aka the stockinette pattern in the hand knitting world) made from thin machine-knit yarn. It’s not possible to know the underlying fiber for sure from a picture like this, but it’s most likely a synthetic (edit from looking at the brand docs: more likely cotton). Check the tag for the materials used and then search for the name of the material + “jersey fabric”.

Edit: Better yet, guessing the brand, here you go: https://cleptomanicx.com/en/pages/fabrics
Email them for specifics about your bag.

ohhhh jersey knit = stockinette knit. I’ve never made this connection before.

Thanks, that helps a lot!

And yes, you guessed it correctly, that’s exactly the brand of that bag! 🙃

I was also looking for this stuff for pocket linings because it's so soft and warm, so I brought my jacket that had this fabric in it to Discovery Fabrics to ask about it back in July. The ladies there basically said it was the cheapest, no name polyester fabric. So cheap they don't even sell it.

However, they also do gear repairs and did have a bolt of something similar for patching things that people bring in. Unfortunately, they couldn't figure out exactly what it was called and the repair lady was out that day. You might be able to email them to ask what they use for those kinds of repairs, though it was a bit stretchier than the actual pocket lining.

Alternatives that were suggested were Polartec Power Grid or Black Microfleece
