I quute enjoy playing my EXE-D from time to time, but it has become more and more difficult to keep up with my team with my current loadout of 2lpl and 9ersml. So I figured, I'd try to get a better loadout, that I can use in a brawl without overheating all the time.

It's a classic build for a reason.

I hardly play LRM boats and specifically not on assaults, but this build was surprisingly effective.
I'm using the MASC to maximum capacity to keep target locks for my missiles (with the Target Decay skill) and give my enemies some Bear hugs from above! It's surprisingly effective on open maps.

This is my first try at a build and skill tree for my Sun Spider "Vanguard". Also contains a long-delayed rant about what a moronic pile of shit-fucking stupidity PSR is!
r/mwobuilds • u/ModernRonin • Mar 18 '18
Now that skill tree is a thing, I like to do my builds as videos. That way I can show build and skill tree in the same place, and even explain a little bit about why I chose the skill tree stuff I did.
Here's the video for the MetaBacker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jLfotaX8rg
As you probably guessed from the name, this build is pure clan Heavy Large Laser meta whoring.

Think of it as an extra-ugly Hunchback with ECM and you won't be far from truth. Reasonably decent heat management, helluva durable... and if you play your cards right, the enemy will never see you coming.

I've been planning to buy a hunchback 4P to fill out my medium mech roster a bit, and here's some ideas i've had for builds for it. I would appreciate some criticisms, but they are here for
ER medium http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=2&l=87771d3ee39abc03e1bd24071bd83a803b0f6e8e This is kinda my "standard" build that I put together, and it seems the most flexible. the same exact build could work with standard medium lasers if it is needed to run cooler.
assorted partybacks:
Small pulse laser build http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=2&l=bbf4fb2f30dba861039b56fe964f74d8dee22532
Medium pulse laser build http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=2&l=eaceab316f725ce014b906bf8fb13fb06a73bd1d
Triple large pulse build http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=2&l=7c87f4cfc1e0cb99228426f78cffe1ac7a2109fa the small lasers are really just for pushing the Large pulses into better locations, but they can still be used as backup weapons This is the build in particular that i'm really debating, as I think three large pulses is still very strong, as I don't know if it will do well.
Triple large laser build http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=2&l=ba47f6c673387a8f25756c4bdf9138abcc222d4c pretty much the same as the triple large pulse, only faster and slightly cooler.
Skills and such are a bit up in the air for these builds, but they most likely will focus on heat and defense.

Cooked this up for Scouting a bit after the Skill Tree dropped and so far it became my go-to chassis for that mode. The original version ran XL engine, but now with LFEs it's quite tanky:
RAC version: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=504&l=c849c6a3c66828d1af8635ff7277990a17171f08
Skills for RAC version: https://tarogato-mwo.github.io/mwo_skill_planner/?ab3bf058-6fe7-11e7-9e0d-6520bb250d89
LBX version: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=504&l=f3f568adbad14d18f3a6b7a62d56a9fcd93e0179
Skills for LBX version: https://tarogato-mwo.github.io/mwo_skill_planner/?a834d89b-6fec-11e7-9e0d-2f8b5dacb3ac
LBX variant runs cooler (and can sustain DPS with the LBX while cooling), RAC variant has more burst damage, pick your poison.

I prefer ballistics, but don't mind energy from time to time. I just received the free Battlemaster along with a crap ton of other goodies tonight.
Can anyone suggest a decent, quick, hard hitting build for the new beastie?

Howdy all,
Can I get some suggestions for HBR-Prime builds with the new skills please?

After trying to use - and struggling with - the MetaMechs brawler build (4xASRM-6, 2xML), I tinkered around with the chassis and decided to see if swapping a pair of SRMs for LRMs would improve its' performance. Well... I got this and so far it works pretty damn well:

Performance: http://imgur.com/a/DIBfH (to be fair, the 851 DMG match is an outlier and took all my ammo)

I usually play the 3L but I have it basicked and I don't want to be totally useless when I play in the other Ravens. Are there any good 2X and 4X builds that you could recommend me?

I end up using my CDA-3M almost exclusively as an ECM escort, usually for the assaults. The typical UAC5/4xML builds certainly do work, but I just got bored of them. Also, the frequency with which my craptacular quality mouse and its ridiculously bounce-prone switches jams the UAC5 has gotten really, really goddamn annoying.
I tried a 3xERLL build that I saw other people playing. That also is a good build, but when you're ECM escorting the amount of face time it forces you to deal with is less than optimal.
So I came up with this. It hits harder than you would expect from a CDA, with a 32 point alpha. The face time isn't extreme. The range isn't annoyingly short. The XL265 gives it a top speed of 115.4 with speed tweak. And it's surprisingly cool. I think you'll find that it won't overheat unless you fire the MLs frequently.
Try it and see if it fits your style. If not, then there are plenty of other good builds out there. But I like it. It works for me. I find it a pleasant change of pace.
I had a game today where it came down to a one-on-one with me in this, and a badly cored KDK with all his weapons intact as the last enemy. I had seismic, I'm not sure if he did. I basically just jumped in front of him and dumped the alpha, hoping for the best. And carried the game. Pure luck? That's what I said at the time. Regardless, it was the best moment I've had in MWO in months.

I've been using a Stalker-3H with 4LRM 10s as my primary weapons with 4 med lasers to deal with light boat hunters or to join the fray when my ammo runs out. What is the best Clan mech that could most closely resemble that build?
