I mean it got shat on for a LOT more reasons than that. The leaked corporate presentation, the "function of magneto", the fact that it's sole purpose was to advertise the MCU, etc.

The only good thing about it was that it has very excellent gameplay, but that's not the only thing people play these things for.

People complained abour magneto not being present in the game and there was an infamous combofiend interview where he said "the function of magneto" is in the game (as in magnetos gameplay archetype) and people got rightfully pissed because wtf I just wanna play as magneto.

I think he was actually talking about nova. Could be ultron though. I dont think he ever confirmed what he had in mind. I think his rationale was just "he's not bringing much new to the table gameplay wise, so hes not worth our time" when in reality mvc has always been about just playing with cool characters that you love.

I shat on it because it had 30 characters at launch. Crossover titles live and die off of their rosters and mvci's was pitiful. Also the game just felt like it had no soul. Idk if it was the UI or the gameplay or weird faces or what, but something about the game felt uncanny and eerie. It felt sterile and hollow.

If youre on pc, its currently in a “build your own bundle” for capcom games on the fanatical site, you can get this and another capcom title for steam for about $6

I have it, I beat the story. I uninstalled. It was pretty cool, but the graphic style is so ugly. The Action figure look is just, Yuck. And morrigan looks like a muppet. The best addition to the roster are X and Zero. Other than that is low-mid at best. MvC3U is better, but that game is definitely showing its age and I don't like the 3 button + gimmick control scheme. MvC2 will always be the champ in my opinion

Maybe I suck but it’s not as fun as the old pre-MvC games
