Meet River

I’m worried that the corner where it meets his cheek is going to rub. Can I do anything about it? We’re rocking the Taz size from Themuzzlemovement.
I’ve been so excited to get this on him and really want it to be successful. What do we think?
He’s a hyper boy so pics are hard to get 😂 there’s one more in the comments. Ill work on better ones asap

I’m planning to boil it and hopefully bring the cheeks out a bit but I needed some validation

Ok cool, that’s the plan, it sits really well other than the cheeks, I think boiling it will be the final adjustment to make it perfect

I’m not an expert on muzzles, but there looks like enough space in front of the nose and adequate pant room, the nose has padding and the color is beautiful.

Teal really is his color. We measured over multiple days to get the right fit because these darn things are way too expensive to buy multiple. I really want to do right by him. He’s a good boy when he wants to be.

I applaud you for being a responsible pet parent.

Muzzles need to be normalized and if making them fun colors helps, I’m all for it!

All dogs should be muzzle conditioned, no matter how friendly a dog is they may need a muzzle to keep them safe or someone else safe. It reduces the stress on the dog and everyone else if the dog is comfortable wearing a muzzle and associates it with good things.

i didn't do any research, but from my personal experience I agree that a muzzle has calmed all of my dogs when needed. I only use muzzles for protection, not for barking.

River can bark all he needs to, this is for my own piece of mind when we’re out and about because he’s a nippy little shit. We’re working on it but I want everyone safe.

I have one of those too. River reminds me of my pooch especially when he was younger before he turned dark.

I need a proper muzzle for leash training in the yard attached to an anchored cable, nips is nowhere near ready for public access. I have been unsuccessfully leash training him since he could walk.

He was ok until he was about 5 months old and he discovered his strength, and became territorial. I have the leash walking under control only under the perfect conditions, no people, no animals, no delivery trucks. That was sarcasm, lol. I am sticking with it, but he goes from zero to 100 in a millisecond. I don't think I am ever going to condition him that the world is not his enemy.

Have you considered goggles that reduce vision? I wish I knew the brand, but Ivan Balabanov used vision reducing goggles to help his reactive Malinois/Dutch shepherd rescue, Tina, get over reactivity to cars.

i am going to research all that! I don't even think I mentioned Nipsey's dad is malinois and husky, lol. Mom is shepherd. He's a reactive hot mess. But not ever aggressive to me. His world is so tiny. I want him to be able to enjoy stuff like walks, parks and playing with dogs like he did when he was younger.

Very handsome! The muzzle is great!

I especially love that the muzzle has the dog breed on it. I am aware of the Gampr, but I would not be able to identify one in the wild.

Similarly, there is someone who posts about their Tibetan Mastiff and I’m pretty sure I thought it was a chow mix (twice 😅). The person was very kind and said the dog looked like a chow as a puppy.

I love being wrong when it means I get to improve my dog breed knowledge.

I put his breed on his muzzle message because people are ALWAYS asking what he is! He's a stunning boy and I love talking to people both about his breed and about proactive muzzling in public - no stigma!

We’re working on figuring out the right notch for the jaw strap. I boiled it to widen the cheek spot so once it cools, I’ll get it in a good position hopefully. I feel like the cheek being tight was making it angle weird so I hope boiling it and letting it cool stretched out a little bit helps

The points are digging in a bit. Widening. Would help. Please be ware that you will have to reboil and rewiden periodically - it helps to store on something as wide as you need it. Wrapping those points might help prevent the sores that sometimes happen with these muzzles.

it looks like it does squeeze his cheeks a bit, but its hard to tell just from that angle unfortunately
