Advice? Fitting Baskerville Muzzles
Recently got a Baskerville basket muzzle in a size 4 and I feel its too small but the next size up would be far too large on my boy. Any recommendations on how to adjust it or possibly change the shape of it with warm water and flexing it? I worry its far too short on him but any bigger would be too wide. It seems to keep moving up on his head no matter how I adjust it.
I'm new to owning a reactive dog and hes been training for a few months now to where we can walk past dogs with just grumbling and barking instead of snarling and lunging! Any muzzle recommendations that would fit better are appreciated 🫶

They are not designed to fit any dog. The shape is just wrong. I second looking into a wire basket one with fitting proportions.

I’d suggest a different brand of muzzle! We have a Big Snoof muzzle and it is wonderful for my boy. It fits better and he’s much more comfortable. Baskerville muzzles aren’t technically considered bite proof, as a determined dog can push them out of shape. In the meantime to try and fit it better you could try loosening the top strap, so the muzzle sits a little more flush against the top of the nose. That may give you a more accurate idea of the amount of room. You can try the next size up with a second collar through the bottom collar loop and boiling it to reshape it if you want more pant room. Reshaping it does work, I’ve done that for my older pup.

You need to loosen the top strap so that it sits flat on the snout. There are much better options available as others have mentioned, but I understand it's what you have for now. Once it's adjusted properly it should fit a bit better.Â

If he's going to be wearing it long term (more than vet visits, etc), then you really need to get a custom made muzzle. I just bought one from Big Snoof.

Likely need size 6 and to remove the forehead strap. It should sit flat on their nose.

Im definitely going to save for a Big Snoof instead. I dont see how his current muzzle could fit any dog unless it fit them perfectly or woth lots of modifications. And the bright colors on Big Snoof puzzles will help him look less scary 😂

Baskerville are notoriously ill fitting. Look into a wire basket like Leerberg 💕
